Solid and special. This beer was a pleasant surprise, and is indeed a very american-british mix in terms of flavours. Iíd have this again.

Pour amber. A bit of a bad pour, so I got a really filthy head. Drinking it in a flute didnít help, either. Otherwise, the head is a bit fluffy. Beauís heads are usually not that great, and this one is no exception. This said, part of it is my fault. (3).
Aroma is part citrus, part floral hops, and great malt presence (hybrid of caramel and grain aroma) -- terrific balance! (8)
Taste : This one feels like a true english-style IPA. Aroma hints at a US style, but the taste is pure british, with a solid grain/malt backbone. The kind that kinda makes me mad itís only a seasonal (7).
Palate : Bitter finish and oily finish. One of the least boozy 6% you gotta find. (4).
All in all : Terrific, easy-drinking (as in -- itís not overly harsh) iPA with a heavy english feel (itís not an EPA by any means). 600 ml is the ideal size as well. (14+).

I tried this beer on April 8, 2011 after purchasing from the Queenís Quay LCBO outlet. The beer poured a translucent copper colour with a generous light brown head. The aroma was pine, citrus, and malt. Very much like an English bitter. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was malty, with grapefruity hoppish bitterness.

Nice... a seasonal spring Beauís that comes in singles at the LCBO. Brown bottle with a tag that is printed on recycled paper and tied with a string that farmers use to tie the hay together. A little story of the Castor river is written on the tag. This river is the river I use to play at all my upbringing. Pours an amber colour with a big frothy off-white head that has good retention and leaves a bit of lacing. Fruity grapefruit nose with notes of pine needles. The taste is a nice mild hoppy start with some caramel malt showing up in the finish and then the bitterness becoming more intense in the aftertaste. A nice blend of the English and American IPA which is not a punch-in-the-face bitter brew but one that is above the mid-IPAs out there.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear deep copper, piles oí head. Citrus aromas first and foremost, quite lemony actually. Taste backs up the lemon but with a pretty serious bitter punch. Taste opens with some citrus/resin hoppiness before ceding to an aggressive bitterness. Touch of caramel malt only starts to make itself known well into the long bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2012 Very solid IPA, lots of hop presence with a good balance to even it out. Would have again for sure.
Update Feb 2012: somewhat muted hops with biscuit-y backing. Similar to last year overall.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lovely copper brew with a haziness and a medium head that dissipated fairly rapidly. Very strong citrus notes with a hoppy base. Taste was a bit of a letdown as the bitterness rushed to the forefront and stayed there, leaving an almost unpleasant aftertaste. It was hoppy and bitter, but fairly astringent. Decent, but certainly not among the best IPAs that are available. Beauís does a nice job of packaging and bottling, itíd be nice to see this recipe tweaked a bit.

Deep amber pour. The aroma is fairly hoppy. A bit of citrus and a bit of light earthiness as well. There is a little bit of light estery fruit as well as a kiss of toast. Very assertively bittered - to the point where itís a little bit medicinal. A light lingering citrus flavour. Itís okay.
