COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the Beaver River (riviŤre Castor), which connects Ottawa to many communities to the East, this IPA is designed to appeal to Hop Heads. Taking the malt and yeast profile of a traditional British style India Pale Ale and adding an American-style citrusy punch, our Beaver River is both assertive and drinkable. Beaver River is brewed with local spring water and the ingredients are 100% certified organic.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2012 A golden amber ale with a thick off white head. In aroma, a nice lightly floral hops, oranges, caramel malt. In mouth, a good malt base with nice floral hops, with developing grapefruit notes. Medium bodied. One of the best Beauís offering. On tap at Black Tomato, May 2009. 7-4-7-3-14

Dry Hopped with Summit: A clear dark amber ale with a thin lacing light mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light herbal hops. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with oily mouthfeel, nutty notes, light coffee notes, roasted, faint grassy hops, not bad. Cask at Wellington Gastropub, May 1 2012. 8-3-7-3-13

Enjoyed on cask at Bar Volo, with the owner. A very good cask, with some cloudy grapefruit and good head. Very lacey. Understated carbonation, good mouthfeel for a hoppy cask. Mld hop aromas, robust hop flavour. Good drinkability. Had some later on tap, which came through with more mineral water. This review is the cask only.

Deep amber pour. The aroma is fairly hoppy. A bit of citrus and a bit of light earthiness as well. There is a little bit of light estery fruit as well as a kiss of toast. Very assertively bittered - to the point where itís a little bit medicinal. A light lingering citrus flavour. Itís okay.

My Bottom Line:
Citrusy, resinous hops dwell within well-developed toasted, biscuity malts for a pleasant, diplomatic India Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the clear amber.
-A drop of butterscotch is found in the nose, but never appears in the flavor profile.
-The body is well rounded and the carbonation smooth.
-The finish focuses on resinous hop bitterness.

Bottle.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2012 2012-04-21. Crisp dark amber body is near headless but looks nice. Mild aroma, muted sweet malt, very lightly fruity floral hops. 6+ Mild flavour, sweet non-descript malt character, vey mild fruity hops, whispers of a leafy floral hop character. 6+ Average plus palate with ight carbonation. Okay, it is enjoyable but pretty mild overall. 7/3/6/3/14 Blind Tasting on Cask at Volo IPA Challenge

2009-05-08. Crisp orange amber body with a nice foamy white head and lacing. (4+) Aroma is pleasantly hoppy with sweet orange citrus and mild resin (7+). Flavour is likewise hop forward with a similar sweet orange citrus profile, resin takes on a touch more pine needle character than it did in the aroma. Malt is supportive, muted caramel blends well with the hops. Touches of grapefruit and lemon seeds in the finish linger briefly. (7+) Average plus bodied palate seems to suit the beer nicely. Rather good, well balanced. Bit tame compared to those from south of the border but it is rather quaffable, which I expect was the idea. Will try again - Definitely Beaus best so far. 7/4/7/4/15 On tap at Volo

Bottle, shared with Robbie. Light copper amber, average white head. Aroma is very malty, lots of toast and caramel, with earthy hops playing a distant afterthought. Nice toasty malts on the palate too, but again there is a virtual absence of aromatics. There is however, plenty of pithy bitterness in the finish. Compared to the Mad Tom IPA I had yesterday, and the Boneshaker I had earlier, this just doesnít add up. A decent brew, but a pretty weak IPA.

Cask gravity pin @ Volo
Appearance: mid haze on amber look , bright white top , singular ring of lace 3+.
Nose: sweet citric feel , freshly cut mango , lemon grass. God refreshing nose.7+
Flavor/Palate : Mid full bodied. Good bitter character. Frontal top sweetness with raw leafy green base. Thirst quenching . Malt felt flat at finish which made this brew harsher than in could. Extra hint of alcohol could balance this green raw power as well.

Growler shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow & tupalev -- c/o tupalev. Filled May 9/09, drank May 22. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with an average size white head. Decent lacing. Aromaís a bit buttery (maybe diacytl?) along with some grain and light floral hops. Grainy flavour, buttery again, along with hops and a long bitter finish. Average bodied. Good but I expected better.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2010 Growler. Shared by tupalev with me, blankboy, garthicus and gregclow. Filled May 9/09, drank May 22. Clear copper with an average off-white head. Dry floral/herbal aroma, light roast grain - and diacetyl, quite a lot of it. Taste was leafy, buttery and - I swear! - like panther sweat (donít ask); pungent. Thickish body, moderate carbonation, slightly harsh oily bitterness in the aftertaste - quite generic and buttery, but still almost a borderline decent effort, by Ontario standards anyway. ** Rerate May 30 at Volo Cask IPA Challenge - this really didnít suck (the brewery still sucks, but this beer isnít bad) mucho juicy fruitiness and plenty of grassy/citrus hops, slightly sweet, but not a mess - well done, really.
