blankboy (2565), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 9, 2008 Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of GregClow. Pours a deep ruby-brown with an average size lasting off-white head. Aroma has some fruit, caramel malt and light spices. Flavour of caramel malt, herbal notes, spices and a decent bitter finish. Average bodied. Nice, this was way better then I expected -- kudos to Beau’s.
mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 10, 2008 [1478-20080601] Bottle. Heavy wet malt aroma with a bit of dark toasted flower petals. Dark brown red body with quick light tan bubbles. Mostly toasted grains flavour in a "stale wheat bread" manner with some floral and chocolate hints.
(5T @ Mondial; Montreal, QC) Lubiere (3231), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 6, 2008 A deep reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A strong "boggy" aroma, with herbal notes, baked beans and light sulfur. In mouth, a lightly sweet treacle malt, with light chocolate, roasted, some metallic notes. Apart from aroma, not bad. On tap at the Elmdale Tavern, Ottawa, 6.50$ pint. April 2008. GregClow (2319), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2008 Big-ass ceramic bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, jerc & tupalev - my bottle from the brewery (thanks, Steve!). Deep garnet-brown with a large off-white head. Aroma is very nice - toasted grain, sweet dark sugar, earthy spice/herbs. Flavour has notes of cocoa & chicory, toasted malt, and an interesting herbal note (presumably the bog myrtle). Very unique, and very good - nice job, guys!
