Burnt Rock is a classic British-style porter brewed with additions of organic vanilla beans and extract. Despite what the weighty aroma suggests, Burnt Rock has a good, clean finish, and sessionable drinkability.

History & Style
Beau’s Pro-Am Series is a salute to homebrewers, true innovators of our craft. Beers designed by amateur brewers, brewed at Beau’s. Cheers to Members of Barleyment’s Patrick Boisvenue for brewing this wonderful winter warmer with us!

Tasting Notes
With rich, luxuriant vanilla aromas reminiscent of fine tobacco, selected dark malts offer up balancing chocolate and coffee nuances for this medium-bodied beer. Hops add a pleasantly dry finish.

Food Pairings

Bottle from the LCBO holiday mix pack. Dark mahogany with brown head. Very sweet, vanilla, some roasted malt, chocolate. Moderate carbonation and mild body, little too sweet but drinkable.

This is a really nicely done spiced Porter. 600 mL bottle. Pours a dark chocolate with a substantial long-lasting head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Lots of taste on the palate. A nice long pleasant finish. Highly recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

600 mL bottle. Pours black with a nice cap of khaki head. Aromas of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, Dr. Pepper, vanilla and raisin. Moderate sweetness with very subtle hopping. Thin on the palate with below average carbonation. Reminds me too much of a soft drink, sorry.

Part of "The Best of Beau’s 2013" 4-pack at the LCBO. Pours a dark brown colour with a creamy beige head, good retention and some decent lacing. Soft vanilla notes over the chocolate and roasted malts. The same for the taste, watered-down hints of coffee. Cocoa flavours with the vanilla smoothing down things. An alright Pro-Am brew, but like others, pretty mild overall.

600 ml bottle form the LCBO. Pours a very deep reddish brown with a generous dark beige head that quickly disappears. Nose is strongly vanilla with coffee and chocolate notes. Vanilla is dominant in the sweet malty start but fades quickly into a relatively dry and slight;y bitter finish. Body is quite thin and watery with soft carbonation. Definitely a sipper.

600 mL bottle. Looks the part, lthough not a tonne of head. Mild vanilla and roast in the nose. The flavour is restrained as well, with the vanilla in a supporting role. This is not a bad thing, though, as this beer is very drinkable. Nice porter.

black pour, with a small beige head. vanilla aroma, with a good amount of roasted malt, coffee, and some light cocoa. the mouth feel is a little thin, and the carb a tab low. The finish is quite roasty, the vanilla just fades to a slight sweetness, with there is a tad bit of hops.

Pours Monday morning hangover black coffee dark with a finger cap that vanishes quicker than a basket of fries at happy hour. Well well my my what do we have here: vanilla swirl porter. A real study in contrasts: the appearance is disappointing (soda pop head with minimal lacing) versus an aroma that bursts with rich vanilla; a flavour that gets the balance of vanilla in beer versus a porter that seems to be on the verge of regressing into a water fest (ie thin body, watery profile).
