COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Burnt Rock is a classic British-style porter brewed with additions of organic vanilla beans and extract. Despite what the weighty aroma suggests, Burnt Rock has a good, clean finish, and sessionable drinkability.

History & Style
Beau’s Pro-Am Series is a salute to homebrewers, true innovators of our craft. Beers designed by amateur brewers, brewed at Beau’s. Cheers to Members of Barleyment’s Patrick Boisvenue for brewing this wonderful winter warmer with us!

Tasting Notes
With rich, luxuriant vanilla aromas reminiscent of fine tobacco, selected dark malts offer up balancing chocolate and coffee nuances for this medium-bodied beer. Hops add a pleasantly dry finish.

Food Pairings
Mascarpone filled gnocchi with truffle oil, caramel and nutty treats, trifle

Impenetrable dark brown, w creamy tan head. Great creamy palate with a welcome leafy sting of light hop bittering. Super tasty toffee-chocolate with a bit of vanilla in aroma and taste (had not noted ’vanilla’ in name before rating.) Dark fruit, dried Khadrawi dates. Nose and finish has a bit of spice. Only a hint of acridity and a little roast, nice palate.

A nice easy drinking beer that is nevertheless a bit disappointing as a vanilla stout. The body is a bit thin and the burnt malt taste is mild at best. The vanilla is perceptible both in the aroma and initial taste and the balance is good, it is not overpowering. There is just a lack of burnt malt flavour and the other subtle flavours that make a great porter. As always with Beau’s one can taste that the water base is excellent. A pleasant easy drinking vanilla porter but there are much better and more complex vanilla porters out there.

600ml bottle I like stouts, porters and vanilla and it is strange but the two together just don’t work for me

Appearance - a nice dark chocolate look. Has an audible fizz when poured but nonetheless has a very thin one finger off-white head. No real lacing left behind. Nose - wonderful vanilla scents waft from this one. Not much else but that is plenty pleasant. Palate - vanilla, a hint of coffee. Maybe a touch of tobacco. Overall - on the sweet side, but still one of the best offerings from Beau’s.

Bottle. Vanilla and roast aroma. Acidic taste, lots of roast, with some vanilla and a very dry finish. Thin body. Meh.

Beau’s Burnt Rock Vanilla Porter Very dark near black pour. Strong carmel and malt nose. Very thick. Not nearly enough vanilla. Its all in the aftertaste. Seems a bit unbalanced. Actually it keeps building still in the aftertaste but its there. Not bad but not great.

2014/01/28 - Pours an opaque dark brown cola colour with a three finger, foamy tan head that lingers and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and light vanilla. Taste follows nose; coffee, cocoa and a toasted malt and vanilla aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium with biting carbonation and a smooth, mildly bitter finish. Nice flavours, but the carbonation seemed a touch high. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
