3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jerc (5580) - Toronto, - JAN 22, 2012
2012-01-19. Lightly hazy dark amber body, beige head and lace. 3+ Odd note up front, toasty caramel malt, rough hoppy bitterness is sharp, interesting fleeting fruit, alcohol in the finish sharpens the bitterness further still. Alcohol becomes more prominent as you go. 6+ Aroma of alcohol, grainy cereally malt, toasted caramel malt, modest hops. 6+ Average plus bodied palate is fairly carbonated. Okay, the sharpness of the bitterness is a bit harsh and lacks the rounded hop flavour to balance it out. Has its moments but overall it is a bit of a kick in the head. On tap at Rhino, Toronto
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 28, 2012
[4255-20120119] Tap. Light spruce leaf hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. More muted spruce leaf hops in the flavour with a fairly strong boozy profile. Full body is bitter and boozy. Good to try but would not wish for a pint in this case. (6/4/7/3/13) 3.3

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4437) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 26, 2012
Draught at Rhino, Jan. 19. Pours a hazy amber-copper with a small diminishing frothy off-white head. Decent lacing. Slightly mild aroma of resiny & fruity hops, some alcohol, lightly toasted caramel malt and grain. Malty flavour along with alcohol, fruit and most of the hops showing in the bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good but not an "American-style Double IPA" as it’s described, it’s closer to what I’d describe as an Ontario-style DIPA.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 23, 2012
An orange amber DIPA with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a nice smooth grassy hops profile, piney and resinous, with light cloves and honey malt. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with resinous bitter piney hops, sustained grassy bitterness, intense and challenging, very nice. On tap at Wellington Gastropub, Feb. 23 2012, 8$ a pint.

Finally crossed paths with this brew at Dominion in Queen. Pouts a deep amber with a thick white head. The nose is lightly dank with notes of light fruit and toasted malt. A fairly bitter brew actually with a distinctly minerally character. A little bit of light earthiness that lends the brew a sort of rusticity that is pretty interesting. Lingering bitterness and a little bit of crystal malt. It’s decent although I could handle more late hops to really bump it up on the aroma front. Doesn’t drink like 8% and is refreshingly dry.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 PatIrish (134) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 12, 2012
On tap at The Only, pours an amber to red in colour, frothy white head. The aroma is quite unique, floral & fruity. Taste is sweet and full on the palate with lot’s of hop bitterness on the finish. Quite nice.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 solidfunk (647) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 4, 2012
Strong hops, alcohol and a slightly fruity body. An ipa with a good, interesting body. Very interesting beer - I will definitely try this again. On tap at the burger bar.

On draught at Burger Bar. Looks good deep coppery amber with a solid lasting fizzy/creamy off-white head, thick lacing too. Aroma is a bit mild but quite bitter - dry resin and dry pine duff, not sweet, some alcohol. Taste follows, solid malt body and backbone but no sweetness, it just frames the robust resin/conifer/citrus zest bitterness and strong but appropriate alcohol. Thick, chewy, nicely carbonated, with a long, powerful, dry resin finish and aftertaste. A hint of the "English" IPA but just a hint - I might not drink more than two pints of this in one go, but damned good!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 garthicus (2088) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 1, 2012
Appearance: Ruby Red, frothy snow white head. Aroma: Malty, a hint of fruit, quite perfume-y, a pgood amount of hops in the nose too. Flavour: Chewy sweet mouthfeel at first, quite a lot of sweetness making way for lots of floral hops, alcohol is certainly detectable, tangy on the palate, long bitter finish. Nice.

On tap at the Burger Bar. Pours a cloudy orange-brown with modest-sized off-white head and good lace. Aroma is fairly mild with caramel/grains and citric/piney hops. Taste has big, lightly toasty caramel, some grainy character and hops. Modest bitterness in finish. Good, not great.

On Tap at Volo.
Upfront grassy hops, and some light citrus. Malts are also upfront, and are mainly toasty cereals. Good carbonation, mouth feel is good. Finish is a medium bitterness, with some nice citrus hops in the end. touches of pine in the aftertaste.
