COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"We also decided to honour a long standing tradition with german altbier producers, and made an extra special batch called Festivale Plus... And it is being introduced for the first time ever at the Golden Tap awards. It is even maltier, hoppier, full flavours, and aged for a ridiculously long time."

On tap at the Golden Kiwi. Pours a nice muddy brown with orange and reddish highlights. Medium white head. Aroma is full of rich darker malt characters and subtle herbal hops. Flavour is even better. Really nice thicker feel on the palate. Rich and nutty malts met with a very dry finish, slightly spicy, nice yeast character. Almost bock-like. Long-lingering dry bitterness. Feels strong in a satisfying kind of way. Really nice one from an apparently controversial brewery. I at least appreciate that they try different things for this bland province.

on tap at the golden kiwi, cambridge ON. slightly hazed deep amber with a minimal head but good lacing. restrained carbonation. the aroma was quite hop forward but decently backed by the malt stucture. i didnt get any wood in the nose but some did come out in the flavour. pretty balanced overall but soemwhat lacking for a 7% abv brew. the abv was really well hidden and i could have sessioned this beer had circumstances allowed for it. a nice effort by beaus with way more positives then negatives.

On tap at Play during their "Sticke" Pours cloudy brownish amber with a nice offwhite quickly disappearing foam head. Aroma is oak, malt and hop with earthy overtones. Taste is a slightly dry bitterness at start which is probably due to the oak. Spicey aftertaste and some piney hop character to the back of the mouth. Overall a great beer and a fabulous event.

Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 30, 2008
A dark reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A very pleasant vinous aroma with light cinnamon notes, very fragrant. In mouth, a nice treacle malt with nutty notes, veering into Belgian territory, with nice fruity esters, light alcohol warmth, medium bodied, but still rich and interesting. A plus for Beau’s on this one! On tap at Wellington Gastropub, 6.00$

At wellington gastropub- Transparent deep mahogany, pours a frothed eggshell cap. Nose of intense caramel malts, very earthy and woodsy, quite toasty, with prune and floral hops. Tastes sweet, of toffee and caramel, fresh floral hops, sugary prune, quite oaky. Nice long bitter finish, medium full body. Seems a bit boozy.

[Autumn 2010 version, on tap at Wellington Gastro] Nice caramel aroma with subtle floral hops and possible a touch of nuttiness. Hazy, dark chestnut appearance under thin, off-white lace. Rich caramel flavour complemented by some floral and herbal hops. An assertive bitterness comes in that just puts this beer a little off-balance. Notes of walnuts and dried fruit. The complexity is unfortunately overshadowed by bitterness. Moderate carbonation, medium body, slightly warming, moderate to high bitterness in the finish.

On tap at Volo , Toronto (2010 batch)
Aroma slightly fruity feel with hint of alcohol , gentle touch of prune, malts as base. 6+
Appearance hazed amber-red with creamy mid top. Good looking brew.
Flavor and Palate : Medium full bodied. Very good malt depth , leafy bitterness on edge. Initially missing some nutty al feel that developed to proper level as it warms up. Light oak feel followed. Finishing with friendly warmth. Very drinkable that is dangerous at this strength.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2010 2010-09-09. Lightly hazy dark amber body with a modest foamy beige head. 3+ Flavour has a malty core but is fairly hoppy with a good amount of bitterness throughout. Sweet caramel accents, dry mineral character, hints at wood but I am looking for it. Aroma is modest, dry malt with a caramel accents and very light vague hints of wood. Smooth average palate is just slightly over carbonated. Okay, decent but there is something about it that doesn’t make me want more, particularly the mineral touches. 7/3/7/3/14 - 3.4

2008-08-23. Labelled "Festivale Plus" but likely the regular Festivale. Dark copper-brown body with a smallish beige head. (3+) Aroma is quite sweet with lightly toasty caramel malt. Flavour has fairly bitter overtones that mute the sweet malty core, touches of dry caramel malt. (6+) Smooth average palate is very lightly carbonated. Quaffable, pleasant, average. 7/3/6/3/14 - 3.3 On Tap, Golden Tap Awards, Toronto

2008-08-26. Good dark copper body with a modest tan head. (3+) Aroma is lightly fruity with a surprising amount of hops in the nose, mild malt base (6+). Flavour is similar with dryish caramel malt that has toasty touches in the highlights, a modest alcohol presence and bitterness in the finish. (6+) Average plus palate. (3+) Quaffable but just okay. 6/3/6/3/14 - 3.2 On tap at Volo as Festivale Plus

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2010 [1622-20080823] Tap. Grainy aroma has a bit of brown apple notes. Clear, dark red body with a quick creamy almond head. Grainy bread flavour. Medium body. Really nice bread characteristics. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2
(Called plus, probably the regular @ 2008 GTA’s, beerbistro; Toronto, ON)

[1634-20080926] Tap. Bready grains aroma. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Mild bready grains flavour, noticeable alcohol. Medium body is a little watery. Mild and drinkable. (7/3/7/3/14) 3.4
(Called regular, probably the plus @ Volo; Toronto, ON)

Note: Both ratings are here for reference because there is a high chance beerbistro had the regular and Volo had the plus, despite being told the opposite from the brewery...

[3374B-20100909] Cask. Mild alcoholic grain malt aroma. Hazy, dark amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Grainy bread yeast flavour initially followed by mild sage dust. Medium body. Nice sweet grain balance. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2
(Called Sticke "Alt" @ Volo, Toronto, ON)
