3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DougShoemaker (3149) - Toronto, - JUL 7, 2010
Cask @ Volo.
Nose is ripe pitfruit, candied malt, deep copper, tiny toffee head. Flavour is roast malt, some woody, nutty notes too. Medium bodied, very nicely balanced, beautifully bitter, especially dry. Terrific!

bottle. Pours deep red colour, small off-white head. Aroma has a little funk, some grass/grains. Taste is caramel malt, bit of a sharp hop bite, some fruits. Solid beer.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GuillaumeCL (40) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 26, 2012
In a 600mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clear maroon with a bit of off-white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is a bit strange, it’s got some hops mixed with some funk, but somehow not like a saison at all, might be the undercurrent of sweetness. Palate is pretty good, a bit eavy on the tongue but gets cleaned up nicely with the fine carbonation. Taste is good but a bit strange. Definitely hoppy, but then also a really strong sweetness, though the hoppy bitterness comes back in the aftertaste. Kind of like a sweeter red ale. I like it, but it’s a bit strange. I might come back to this again.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 tupalev (2728) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 25, 2012
Bottle, LCBO. I have had this before, like a lot of Beau’s offerings, but I have just not got around to rating it. Nice golden dark brown with a big bubbly frothy head - looks great. Some malt and dusty hops in muted aroma. Taste - bang on style - dry hops, earthy malt, nice lingering dry hoppy taste. Lots of flavour. This is right on style, without really wow’ing in any department - just a solid beer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Jayseppi (56) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 24, 2012
Pine and sweetness on the nose. pleasant bitterness upfront on the flavour, with some sweet caramel coming in to balance it out. Slightly watery mouth feel.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 kevinsenn (327) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2012
600mL bottle from LCBO. A gorgeous-looking beer; clear deep ruby, with a thin white head turning into lacing. Caramel aroma, with a nice dose of fruit and spice. Dry metallic taste, with pepper, and a bitter finish. Only a hint of caramel and nuts in the taste. Fairly weak body.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Phatman (121) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 21, 2012
From bottle. Pours a deep amber brown color with an initially promising head that dissipates promptly. Sweet malty aroma, caramel. good mouthfeel, Smith and not excessively carbonated. Well rounded flavor with good balance of malty flavor with a gentle bitterness that lingers. Another solid seasonal from Vankleek Hill.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 neongolden (60) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 1, 2012
(600mL from the LCBO) Poured cool, a reddish amber with an inch of foamy cream head. Aroma of caramel malts with a nut character and a little bit of roasted grain. Flavour not too sweet, malt again, toasted nuts, smokiness, light vegetal hop bitterness, finishes fairly dry and grainy. Fairly light-bodied, soft carbonation. Quite drinkable and solid, but not particularly complex or interesting.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RC8 (304) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 30, 2012
I was very fond of this one. Classic nutty malt and hops in moderate abundance. Not that carbonated. Got this several times, and it’s Beau’s personal favourite of mine. Shame it’s a seasonal.
