1.86 litre jug from the brewery. let me start off by saying that i rated this beer according to its style, and purpose. a refreshing, good tasting beer that lets you pound back as many as you want. dark copper to brown in colour, with a large foamy head that stays. lots of bubbles shooting up the Kolsch glass. a beautiful sight. not very aromatic, but bread and cereals are the main notes in the nose. taste is caramel, and cereals. like a liquid Muslix. crisp, clean and refreshing. perhaps the "cleanest" tasting beer i’ve ever had. i make sure i stock up on this beer everytime it comes out.

On tap at Allium, in Ottawa, ON- A beautiful and slightly hazed amber pour with a frothy beige froth. Nice lace. malty nose is earthy, with caramel, some floral notes, dark bread, quite nutty too. Tastes of sweet toasty malts, caramel, some dark sweet fruit, with a very nice fresh hop presence. Quite bitter on the finish with a fresh hoppy linger. Creamy and very drinkable. Excellent.

Pours transparent amber, with a thick, lively head. On the nose is sweet biscuit malts, red lollipops, maraschino cherries, orange, green apple, dried fruit, grassy herbal hops, hay, and a touch of pepper and spice. Mouth feel is medium-thin yet creamy, with good carbonation. Taste-wise, sweet bread malt, grassy herbal hops and candied fruit come in first, rapidly souring to dark fruit and grapefruit, followed by that characteristic Beau’s earth and hay and a nice hit of bitterness. The finish is dry and bitter, leaving burnt toast, dark chocolate, and smoke. A nice balance of sweet and astringent flavors with a satisfying, hoppy finish.

Growler directly from the brewery. THe beer was 4 days old when i drank it. Great aroma of bready, nutty malts. Lots of sweet grains, and some subtle hops. The flavor is full bodied, and satisfying. More bready, grainy malts. THis was a real treat.

On tap:
Puts a lightly hazed deep copper-brown with a healthy off-white meringue cap. Modest carbonation.
Aroma of caramel-toasty Munich malts and a woody-earthy tone from the ample noble hops.
Solid malt spine, malty-herbal woody character, chewy mouth feel.
Profile: big blast of CaraMunich malts in front are well balanced by herbal-woody-resinous perles and spalters, light complexity of malt layering in the center then a clean lightly bittered drying finish.
A gutsy rendition of a Düsseldorf altbier. Top flight !

One of my favourite beers from one of my favourite brewers. This one is best at about room temperature; really brings out the flavours.

From a growler in Ottawa. Nice burgundy pour with a large, rocky white head. Aroma has some nice caramalt with earthy hoppy undertone. Flavour hits right away with some delicious toffee caramalty biscuit flavour riding some very dry and bitter herbal hops. Body is medium with light carbonation. Very nice summer patio drinker, I could down a whole growler on my own if I didn’t have to share.

Bottle 65cl (?not sure) from mondial de la biere. A clear amber beer with no head. Smell is on malt and caramel. A very nice altbier, very difficult to detect this one is not german ! Nice malty presence, good roast and toasted notes, nice hopy body. A very nice beer, maybe the most perfumed alt I had until now. Good nose, long and nice bitterness on aftertaste, pleasure.

I was very fond of this one. Classic nutty malt and hops in moderate abundance. Not that carbonated. Got this several times, and it’s Beau’s personal favourite of mine. Shame it’s a seasonal.
