COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Bohemian pilsner is a staple of the German diet, and we’re happy to include one for you in the 2014 Beau’s Oktoberfest mix pack! Pale blond in colour, Happy Pilsner’s light floral, herbal and honey aromas take your senses on a trip to their happy place: the ever-enjoyable taste of a crisp, clean traditional lager.

History & Style
The Bohemian pilsner was first brewed in 1842 in Pilsen, Bohemia. Pilsners were the first beers in the world to have a pale blond colour. Beau’s first brewed Happy Pilsner for happy Oktoberfest-goers in 2010, and we’re super-duper happy to bring it back for 2014.

Tasting Notes
Happy Pilsner has a delicate herbal, floral and honey-like aroma. Traditional to the style, the flavour has some yeast-derived soft sulfur notes. The hopping provides medium bitterness that balances the malt profile without harshness.

Food Pairings
Caviar, croque monsieur, fried calamari, enchiladas.

Très maltée. Léger goût de pils et un soupçon de houblons. Amertume amère, fruitée et effluves de gazon.

[Bottle (600ml)] Pours a lightly hazy gold with a small semi-lasting frothy white head. No lacing. Solid Pils aroma: Grassy hops, fresh peas, bready malt, grain and some herbal and spicy notes. Flavour follows the aroma, right on style with a moderate bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Really good, well made and on style.

On tap at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2014. Light pale yellow with a billowy white head. Grainy, grass, clean, some white sugar, moderate carbonation and mild body, fresh and clean although was not doing it for me this day.

Part of their Oktoberfest 2014 mixed pack. Pours a very slight hazy, light golden colour, with a big frothy white head, great retention and loads of thick creamy-foam lace. Beautiful aromas of typical Pils hops reminding me of some of the best pilsner around (which is weird being there is no Saaz). Not as grassy in the taste with very light hop at first, but with a grainy finish. Then, the nice mild grassy hops shows up, lingering after the grain malts. Not a big fan of pils (except a few, and gotta be cold), but this I must say is quite a nice one. One of the better American ones that don’t seem like one.

Bottle, shared with JJ. Hazy light yellow, thick white head that stays full for a long time. Slightly sweet crackery grains, herbal hops, tangy sharp finish. A nice pils.

Pours a murky faded yellow. A bit atypical looking for most pilsners I’ve seen. Active white head. Aromas are grassy,, with some bread and grains. Taste is still grassy, with some lemon/lime in the background. Some breadiness in the mix, but extremely light. I’ve never been a big fan of pilsners, and this one will do nothing to dissuade me of that notion.

600ml bottle, batch 3748, clean pale golden color, with a big fluffy white head. Nice light herbal floral leafy, grassy hoppy nose, with a light bread dough, faint citrus peel, crunchy grainy pale, pilsener malt accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp clean mild honeyed pale, pilsener malt, herbal flowery leafy, grassy hop, faint vanilla, citrus peel character, leading towards a bread yeastiness, juicy pilsener, pale maltiness, faint lingering earthy herbal leafy, grassy, citrus hop bitterness finish. Good pilsener!

600 mL bottle from Beau’s Oktoberfest Mixed Pack. Pale gold yellow pour with a thin white head, bit of residue on the glass. Floral hop aroma, some light crisp malt. Taste is a bit grainy, some honey flavor. Overall a rather nice pilsner
