April 20, 2012 - on gravity cask at Volo - pre- IPA Challenge, Friday evening. Beautiful refractive slightly hazy amber with a small frothy/foamy off-white head. Smells great - I get that "rye sharpness," quite a lot of fresh oily cereal grain, some alcohol, juicy - fresh and lightly fruity (tangerine/zest) - and floral. Taste is is like orange pith with dry herbal/floral bitterness, not a lot of alcohol - it’s really simple. Average body, quite astringent, mildly carbonated, a surprisingly quick finish, leaves a pithy coating on the palate - good, not amazing, seems oddly delicate.
