Beau’s flagship offering is Lug Tread Lagered Ale, named after the tire treads of a small tractor, a true symbol of Eastern Ontario. Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug Tread is a tribute to “Kölsch” the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged, or “lagered”, for a lengthy period. This gives it some light ale notes, complemented by a lager-like crispness.

(many) bottles from the brewery, a short drive for me. There’s definitely a sweetness, followed by a balanced bitterness with a nice finish. Grainy, with a hint of hops... It’s an ale with a bit of an identity crisis, but yummy to me!

Bottle from the brewery. Clear pale gold pour with a large fluffy white head. Nose has yeast, hone, grain and faint grass. Lightly sweet honey and toffee start followed by a very light bitterness and a short crisp finish. Mouth is medium light with average carbonation. Good alternative to a pale lager.

On tap at WVRST - part of a tasting set. A very clear deep gold pour with a thin filmy head.  It has a fruity and rough malt aroma. Medium bodied with a clean malty crackery taste - think a bready pils. Very nice.

Tap at McNeil's, Port Hope. Surprised I hadn't rated this one. Pours a clear gold with a with head. Very little aroma, might as well be water actually. Light body medium carbonation. Lemon, honey, light caramel, white bread, a bit dull but ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2014 600ml bottle at Zak’s Restaurant. Pours a light straw color. Thin white head. Definitely filtered. Lively carbonation. Aromas of light citrus with hints of caramel malt. Mouthful is light and refreshing. Tastes of a citrus and malt balance. Has a nice lime infused tingle on the swallow. A bit old school but very sessionable.
