COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beau’s flagship offering is Lug Tread Lagered Ale, named after the tire treads of a small tractor, a true symbol of Eastern Ontario. Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug Tread is a tribute to “Kölsch” the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged, or “lagered”, for a lengthy period. This gives it some light ale notes, complemented by a lager-like crispness.

Bottle - Grains, light skunk and pale malts. Pale yellow with a thin bubbly head. Grain, honey and corn with a bit of fruit esters. Tastes more like a Euro Pils than anything else, but clean and refreshing.

Sample on tap at Imbibe (Kitchener). Pours crystal clear blonde with no head. Not much aroma. Taste: lager yeast, honey, lavender, lemon. Thin. Ok for a Kölsch.

Taster, at an "organic" pizza place in Hamilton, Ont. I was told it was a "lagered ale", so I thought that either they were BS’ing me or they had no idea what they were talking about. Obviously, I was the only one with no clue, in the end. And actually it did taste like a very pleasant lager. Nice and crisp, sweet but not cloying, with a nice touch of citrus/grass touch of hops bitterness. And not herbal. I’d never have dreamed it would be a Koelsch.

600ml nice bottle. Pours a clear light golden with a thin white head. Aromas of sweet malt, yeast, and a little bit bready. Taste of sweet malt, and some citrus. Hops nearly absent. Very light beer. Not impressed.
