Beau’s flagship offering is Lug Tread Lagered Ale, named after the tire treads of a small tractor, a true symbol of Eastern Ontario. Golden-hued, crisp and finely balanced, Lug Tread is a tribute to “Kölsch” the classic beer of Cologne, Germany. Lug Tread is top fermented (like an ale) and then cold aged, or “lagered”, for a lengthy period. This gives it some light ale notes, complemented by a lager-like crispness.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 600 ml bottle. Somewhat disappointing and overpriced. Bland taste, pale colour like Corona, slightly reminiscent of a Molson Canadian-type taste (it’s been ages since I’ve drunk macro-brews). Lug Tread is definitely drinkable, but a little lame for this price range and micro-brewery standards. Maybe I’m not a big fan of this style. But at this price point, I felt compelled to rate it. I have to say that the second one (on the next day) tastes better than the first. Hmmm.... Maybe there’s a reason they sell these in four-packs.

600 mL bottle crushed with some bros. Pours clear golden. You like DMS? Good starch? Bad bad bad.

On draft at an earth to table pizza joint in Hamilton, ON. Had no clue what it was when ordering it, but after tasting it, I said to myself "seems like a Kolsch." Happy to see that this is in fact what they were going for. Light malt aroma and flavor. No apparent hop flavors, just enough to balance. Quite clean and refreshing - definitely a pizza beer, which is good since this is what I had it with. Solid Kolsch.

A nice lager with a rich golden colour and a minimal head. very soft on the tongue it has a velvety texture. I would have no problem buying this beer again.

February 13, 2014. 600mL bottle. Light, faint malty aroma. Pale golden yellow colour. Very small head that quickly dissipated. Sweetish malty taste, hint of bread and lemon. Pretty thin. This is better than I remembered it being, but it’s unremarkable. Drinkable but not memorable.

Malty aroma with notes of grass and herbs. Clear gold colour. Mild sweetness with flavours of bread, honey, and lemon. Light body with lively carbonation. Fine, but nothing too interesting.

Bottle - Grains, light skunk and pale malts. Pale yellow with a thin bubbly head. Grain, honey and corn with a bit of fruit esters. Tastes more like a Euro Pils than anything else, but clean and refreshing.

Sample on tap at Imbibe (Kitchener). Pours crystal clear blonde with no head. Not much aroma. Taste: lager yeast, honey, lavender, lemon. Thin. Ok for a Kölsch.
