1.2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2012 600 ml bottle. Somewhat disappointing and overpriced. Bland taste, pale colour like Corona, slightly reminiscent of a Molson Canadian-type taste (it’s been ages since I’ve drunk macro-brews). Lug Tread is definitely drinkable, but a little lame for this price range and micro-brewery standards. Maybe I’m not a big fan of this style. But at this price point, I felt compelled to rate it.
I have to say that the second one (on the next day) tastes better than the first. Hmmm.... Maybe there’s a reason they sell these in four-packs.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours an ultra clear golden with a small (diminishing to "thin" a bit fast) white head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of cereals and that’s about it. A bit of husk but nothing bad, really. Taste is pretty dry and moderately high on the bitterness. Flavors of wheat crackers and herbs. The bitterness lingers for a moderate duration, a bit of a surprise from a kölsch to me but I’m no expert so maybe they are all like that across the pond. Body is light to medium and carbonation moderately high. Overall a nice beer, not something I tend to drink usually but I believe it is crafted better than your average "American Kölsch" from my limited experience. Can’t wait to see what they release here next!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is clear gold with nothing going on. Nose is mostly bread/grain, a bit of hay and barnyard - that Beau’s rustic bouquet. Taste is sweet grainy malt, a little funky, with the crisp lager finish they advertise. Simple and kinda boring, but tasty.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pale gold with with a thin, white, disappearing fizzy head. Smells of yeast, pale malt, fruit, flowers and some lite grassy hops. Medium dry light body with medium carbonation. Tastes of yeast, fruit, dry pale malt and bread with a hoppy finish. Not awful but not particularity interesting. Drinkable.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear gold with a thin white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is mild fruit, pears, cherry?s, a touch of sulfur and mildly wine like. Flavour is soft malt, mildly fruity, medium, light puckering tartness, mildly bitter with a mild presence of noble hops. Very nice lightly fruity light brew!

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a clear golden copper with a frothy and lacey white head. Aroma of biscuit, toast, sweet pale malts and a nice floral esthers from the yeast. Taste is toast, biscuit and a rich sweet pale malt character... Crisp and clean finish like this style should have... Rich malt profile like an ale and lager finish... Almost perfect kolsch!

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
No bitterness to speak of with this ’lagered’ ale, but it comes with a nice spicy aroma and it is crisp and smooth going down. The malts are soft and muted, like saltine crackers

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not lager, not ale - yup, it’s a Kölsch alright! Poured into a shaker, nice clear yellow colour with a frothy white 2cm head that dissipated quickly but never quite disappeared. Aromas of grain & grass, crisp & lively on the palate with medium carbonation. Tasted slightly sweet, flavours of malted grain , hay and a hint of doughy yeast. Finish was pleasantly bitter, nicely hopped but not overdone. Eminently drinkable - this may be my new everyday beer. Can’t wait for it to be available in QC!
