Pitch black with a nice thick light brown head. Dark fruit sweetness, dark chocolate, a little roasted side. Nice balance, start sweet then merge to a bitter brew. Full body with a slick texture.

600 ml bottle. Pours a ruby reddish black with a thick, creamy, resilient beige head. Aroma is chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla and coffee. Flavor is chocolate, very roasty, oldish, figs. Finish is strangely woody, vanilla, and coffeeish. Lingering chocolate and boozey notes. Medium to full body, oily and viscous mouthfeel, weak to medium carbonation. Solid!

Pours a dark brown with a thin brown head. Malty sweetness dominates the nose. Light chocolate aromas. Dark fruits are also perceptible. Mainly dried prunes. Taste is esthery with a warming alcohol. The chocolate and coffee notes are more present than in the nose. Still sweet with lots of dark fruits. Overall I expected more body for 8% ABV. Not really a stout but more towards a Doppelbock but good though.

600ml bottle from the LCBO. Deep brown body with thick brown head. Chocolate, rum, raisin, alcohol and fig aromas. Taste is creamy and overly filling. Alcohol warmth overpowers the finish.

Deepest brown pour, fading beige head. Roast and spice nose with soft rummy, heady undercurrents. Chocolate, carub, earthy, green leafiness and licorice feature in this smooth and polite strong beer, not exagerating the hops nor the roast, nor the sweetness. An all-rounder, drier than average, a sensation perhaps amplified by the assertive carbonation. Less creamy than other Beau’s offerings and even though it’s above average in the roast department, it’s not as up there as some of their other dark brews. In the end, a fairly balanced and predictable example that does not strike a sensible chord of mine and since it sits in a category I’m not particularly fond of, it’s not something I will seek out again.

Pours jet black with a very thin mocha head. No lacing left behind on my clean glass. Aromas are of chocolate, burnt malts, raisins, molasses and rum. Tastes are identical. Nice alcohol burn in the back of the throat. Some are observing that this is a misleading beer and not really representative of an Imperial Stout. I don’t judge by category. For me this is as much a Dubbel as a stout, with raisins, rum, chocolate nibs and malts all coalescing into a wonderfully unique beer. Hotly boozy, but I will live with that. Would buy this again without hesitation.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown/caramel with a thin, tan head. Aroma has nice notes of candy sugar, dark fruits, and hints of roast. Taste is balanced. Dark fruits, roast, and a slight tartneess. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a semi-dry finish. Overall a tasty, roasty, brew.

Thick tan head, with a dark brown body. Aroma of malted oats and chocolate. Taste matches aroma with hints of oak, and blacberry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
