3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from czar, thanks man! Not so black, its aroma is full of roasted malt and spicy esters. It almost comes out as fresh, a bit odd for an imp. stout but maybe it is just me that isn’t too familiar with the belgian variant. Taste is sweet with no apparent alcohol, it is sweet like some oatmeal stouts are... or maybe it is some lactose? Anyway, it is not dry at all. Flavors are roasted malt and and a bit of medecine. Not bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a brown-black that’s mostly opaque with a fair amount of brown head that dissipates fairly quickly. Smell is more Belgian than imperial stout but has notes from both, banana, cloves, sweet malt, chocolate. Palate is on the heavier side of medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Taste is slightly bitter at first with some sweetness before hitting all the major imperial stout notes with coffee and chocolate roastiness. There is a nice freshness in it however, which is good, though clashes with the name.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light coffee notes with some medium black chocolate bitter notes also discernable. Taste is a mix between some medium dry black chocolate notes with some light roasted malt notes which is well round off by some oat notes. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but a bit too thin for style while lacking some character. I also don’t get the Belgian yeast part of this beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[bottle at BJCP study session]
Musty raisin aroma with licorice and mocha toffee behind smoky phenolics. Clear garnet-brown under a light brown ring. Dry and fruity estery flavour with lots of peppery and celery phenolics followed by a dark malt chocolate bitterness--the chocolate comes out as the beer warms. Light to medium body, medium bitterness in the finish, medium carbonation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Let me start by saying that i usually do not like stouts at all. They always tend to be too sweet for my liking. That being said, this stout really took me by surprise. I generally like most of Beaus products.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Wasn’t sure what they meant at first by Belgian imperial stout but I can see it after a taste. There’s some floral hops that creeps out of the taste. Unfortunately it seems to come at the cost of doing a proper imperial stout. By that I mean the taste of roast or smoked malt is hard to detect here. The hops give a floral leave. Pours black with great lacing. Some bitterness in leave as well. On tap at volos.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep black pour with a touch of soft licorice and a bit of light clove and cocoa. A touch of bitterness and some distinctly spicy character. Softly peppery. Decent.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Best of Beaus 2012 4 pack. Pours pitch black with a small oily head. Aroma is strong roast, alcohol, and sugar. Taste is very interesting and complex - strong roast and alcohol in the classic impy sense but mixed with a strong, sweet sugary taste, as well as licorice. Also a dark fruit and port like taste. Short finish. A very complex and unique stout that certainly divided the room I shared it with - I quite liked it.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
600 mL. Pours a dark brown, with a thick medium tan head. Aroma of yeast, molasses, roasted malt, bitter cocoa and espresso. Sweet, but not overly with a coating mouthfeel and a bitter/sour finish. A real malt bomb, a little yeast complexity.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fairly strong aroma that is slightly boozy. Black with a foamy cream/tan coloured head. Moderately sweet taste with a dry aftertaste, lots of roasted malt flavour in this one, kind of burnt tasting. Slightly alcoholic burn on the palate, but smooth and thick. A nice cold weather stout.
