Bottle from czar, thanks man! Not so black, its aroma is full of roasted malt and spicy esters. It almost comes out as fresh, a bit odd for an imp. stout but maybe it is just me that isn’t too familiar with the belgian variant. Taste is sweet with no apparent alcohol, it is sweet like some oatmeal stouts are... or maybe it is some lactose? Anyway, it is not dry at all. Flavors are roasted malt and and a bit of medecine. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown/caramel with a thin, tan head. Aroma has nice notes of candy sugar, dark fruits, and hints of roast. Taste is balanced. Dark fruits, roast, and a slight tartneess. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a semi-dry finish. Overall a tasty, roasty, brew.

Thick tan head, with a dark brown body. Aroma of malted oats and chocolate. Taste matches aroma with hints of oak, and blacberry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Scent and flavour of chocolate and coffee. Heavy body with low carbonation, though slightly syrupy. Good flavours but not too special.

600ml bottle. Dark brown-reddish body, medium chocolate head with excellent retention, but no lacing. Oily. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla beans, blackberries, woodsy, basement. A little faint for an imperial stout. Taste of sweet licorice, chocolate, herbs, a bit of unpleasant burned toast, booze, yeast. Well chilled but that didn’t help.

On tap at the Ottawa Beerfest. A dark black pour with a big tan head. Plums, raisins, rich dark stone fruit, bread pudding luscious aroma. Med-light bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel, maybe too light. The flavor is wonderful rich chocolate, cocoa, dark breaded fruits - like a pudding, wonderful.

Cola like to the eye with an initial flourish of foam which levels and thins over time. Light bodied in the mouth with fairly liberal carb. Hard with strong penetrating notes of nail varnish and sugar. Despite the catchy image and packaging this beer doesn’t just disappoint but its wrong on so many levels. While hardly a style hardliner for me this beer is as far away from a Belgian Imperial Stout as possible. In fact, its virtually dishonest to call it so. Very disappointing and I’m afraid a prime example of in general how far Ontario craft breweries (despite progress )are from competing with the big boys internationally. Wake up Matt.
