bottle c/o "G" - yay G! Amber-tinged clear gold with a huge fluffy off-white lasting head. Floral and herbal slightly fruity malt aroma, not too sweet - bready. Taste - even more herbal, sharp green sour fruit character, alcohol emerges- spicy and I quite like it. light body, acidic/astringent, nice carbonation. Hoppier than most "bock" beers, which is a good thing, for me.

Pours deep gold with light orange hues. Short soapy white head. Grass and herbal hop nose with light sweet grassy hops, herbs. Traces of caramel and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel, and the aroma translates very evenly to the palate. Bready malts, earth, and some clean acidity rounds out the beer into a fairly soft, toasty finish.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color bock with a large foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of unrefined grain and light residual sugar is not the best. Taste is also dominated by unrefined grain with light cereal notes, some dry caramel and a dry finish. Body is light for style with good carbonation. Not sure why I bought this in the first place and not sure I would bother drinking this again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear, golden yellow with a thin white head and very bubbly appearance. Muted aroma of sweet biscuit malts and lemony-herbal hops as well as yeast and a little alcohol. Tastes the same with sweetness more apparent at the start, fading into a refreshing off-dry, herbal-bitter finish The body is medium with plenty of lively carbonation.

600 mL bottle. Nice dark orange beer with a fairly impressive off-white head. (Full disclosure: not my favourite style. Or second favourite.) Typical sharp fruity/malty aroma. Not enough fruity maltiness in the flavour, though, to hold up to the booze. This one could use a little time in the cellar, maybe.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at Beau’s Oktoberfest. Awesome name and label for a beer. Pale amber with a fluffy off white head that makes me want to stick my face in the beer to create a beer mustache (may also be because at this point in time I had been at Oktoberfest for a few hours). A fair amont of malt, some lemon zest, hints of yeast, caramel, sugar. Moderate carbonation and mild+ body, easy to drink and fresh but overall this just doesn’t do it for me, even if as MT says its bang on for the style.

My Bottom Line :
This perfectly authentic and deeply malty Heller Bock develops biscuity, honeyed depths in a crisp and highly drinkable vehicle.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slim veil of foam settles atop the amber-hued golden.
-The mouthfeel is fluffy, beautifully sharing the malts’ intricacies.
-Herbal hops balance out the honeyed malts.
-This ratings page is more of an indictment of the Heller Bock style than it is an appreciation of this spot-on example.
