Beaus’s welcomes the heat of the summer with Patio Saison, a snappy and refreshing unfiltered ale. The 5.9% ABV saison offers up mild pepper-and-clove spice in harmony with both the citrusy zest of organic orange peel, and the floral aroma of organic elder flower. The saison style has its origins in the Willonia regoion of Belgium. Traditionally this beer was brewed to slake the thirst of farmhands during harvest time, so it makes a perfect beer for warm weather.

Aug. 26, 2014. Bottle from LCBO. Cheer label made me want to buy this, since it caught my eye and I’m fond of saisons. Big foamy white head. Golden yellow colour. Fresh straw and lemon aroma. Touch too hop-forward for my taste, but not too aggressive. Lemon and straw flavours. Not too bad, but I have had better saisons.

Hazy golden with a thick white head. Spicy and floral aroma with earthy hint. A little bitterness, a little bit drab aftertaste. Average carbonation with a thin texture. Abstringent and dry aftertaste.

Bottle thanks to Pushkinwow, thanks sir! cloudy yellow pour, lots of white head. Aroma is lemon citrus, grass, and spices. Taste is fizzy carbonation, light hops, lemon, little bit of white grapes with a bone dry finish. Not too shabby.

Absolutely solid saison. Incredibly flavorful. Sprightly in mouthfeel. Recommended.

Crap. I’m falling behind. I have a whole fridge of beer, and not enough liver to drink them all. The kids have gone back to school, so summer essentially over, and more telling than that is Beau’s has it’s harvest collection out. So I figured I better get to the Patio Saison while there still was some patio left. Pours a cloudy golden with orange tinge, finger of fluffy white head. Nice malts, the wheat is there, as well as cereal barley. Nice doughy/spicy yeast, and some other spice that has to be the orange and flowers. Taste of lots of cereal malts, bitterness, both in hops and the orange making an appearance in the after. Balance seem a little off though toward the bitter end of the scale. Alright beer that works better through the whole glass, building a good taste than a knee-jerk first call.

Bottle, shared with TylerDurden. Hazy golden body, lively white head, no lace. Sweet pale malts, estery yeast, sweetly spicy. I like my saisons drier and hoppier, but having said that, this wasn’t a bad beer.

600 ml bottle. Pours a lightly hazy yellow (poured to the dregs so some sediment suspended in there as well) with a big pillowy white head. Aromas are zesty citrus (lemon or orange), pepper, banana, and a little cotton candy. Aroma is dominant spice (pepper), get a little bit of yeast, and some of the banana tastes typical of a wheat beer. Nice bite on the palate from the pepper and the carbonation, long bitter finish. Really nice beer.

On tap at the Ottawa Beer Fest.
