3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A golden saison with a super thick frothy white head. In aroma, pungent and grassy, with orange peels, perfume, a bit soapy, but nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet fruity malt with light curacao, coriander, berries, oily mouthfeel, grassy notes, very well made. On tap at Arrow and Loon, April 15 2012.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at The Only Cafe. Pale golden pour with a tight white head. The aroma is softly peppery with a touch of clove and some light citrus as well. A little. It of lean wheaty spice as well as some prickly ethanol (even though it’s only 5.9%). Light palate and appropriately dry. A little bit of pear seems to pop up here. Solid - if pedestrian - saison.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012-04-14. Lightly hazy golden body, nice creamy off-white head. 3+ Flavour is pleasant, moderately bitter throughout, light spice character that I can not quite put my finger on throughout. Not sure if it is a product of the yeast, or added to the beer. Perhaps pepper or coriander, but I might be reaching too hard to name it. Sweet undertone that makes me think of bubblegum in the middle but fades quickly into the finish. Light dry alcohol in the aroma, dry pale malt, light spice, light yeasty esters. Smooth average palate has a soft carbonation. Overall it struck me more like a sweet spicey wheat than a traditional saison. I enjoyed it, but I think I might have liked it better on another day. On tap at Brydens, Toronto

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
April 12, 2012 - on draught at Burger Bar. Slightly hazy gold, nice and bubbly, with a large and lasting creamy/fizzy white head. Aroma is somewhat fruity and sweet, lightly spicy - really in all things seems like a blend of Unibroue Blanche de Chambly and Black Oak’s Summer Saison. Thick body, very spicy and yeasty, not overly sweet, light carbonation, quite fruity and malty and quick finishing. These days it’s not really my go-to style (sweet saison) but it’s not that sweet and it’s quite refreshing - good summer beer.

[4375-20120414] Tap. Grassy lemon hints in the aroma. Slightly hazy, light orange yellow body with a quick foamy white head. Lemony grass hops continues in the flavour with a quick bitter nibble. Light-medium body. Great to try, light and patio-esque. (6/3/6/3/14) 3.2

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a hazy beige color ale with a rather large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of rustic malt with light lingering sweet notes. Taste is a mix between some rustic malt with light residual sugar and some light dry wheat notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Well brewed though fell a bit short on the complexity expected for this style.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Best of Beaus 2012 4 pack. Cloudy yellow-orange, huge head. Pleasant yet mild yeast aroma. Taste is a refreshing yeasty dry wheat taste - refreshing. I have had others that offered more flavour, and this time of year does not do this one justice, but as is, it is a well made saison. Alcohol present as well.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Rhino. Golden-orange body with a moderate haze and a nice lacy white head. Fair bit of fruitiness in the aroma - pineapple, apricot, bit of orange and lemon - with background yeast and a hint of dry spiciness. Great body, nicely carbonated with a back-of-throat tingle. Flavour brings to mind an amped up witbier - curacao and coriander, lemon and wheat, fruity malt off the top, peppery yeast in the finish. Lacks the rustic feel of a top level saison, but still quite good.
