UPDATED: JAN 28, 2012 Dark coloured with a good soapy head. Coconut and bitter aroma, vanilla. A significant bourbon in the taste, hoppy, but hops get overwhelmed by the bourbon, wood and butter. Big mouthfeel. Lacey. Drinkable but wierd and off because of the butter. Boozy as it warms and at the finish. Our shared bottle of the group.

Bottle [600ml] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours amber-copper with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is big-time oak, a little too much for my liking, along with bourbon and vanilla. Flavour is sweet and sugary. with maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon and alcohol. Average bodied. The barrel-aging is just simply too much, there’s no sign of the underlying beer.

2012-01-18. Hazy dark amber body, small beige head fades. Aroma is very barrelly, woody, modest bourbon, vanilla and alcohol. 6+ Flavour is similarly pretty barrel forward, vanilla and bourbon up front and dry woody finish. Little or no evidence of the base beer. 6+ Smooth average plus to medium body. 3+ Not bad but the barrel pretty much obliterates the base beer. Pairs surprisingly well with the crackers and hummus though... Om nom nom! :) Bottle via trade with cfrancis

Deep amber pour with a thin white head. The nose is quite oaky with a lot of hop bitterness. The aroma has faded quite a bit but it's got a lot of oak character and some light white oak. Toast and a touch of toffee. Some peppery character and a little bit of soft malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark brown with a trace of off white top. Aroma is intense bourbon and a little malt. Taste has the bourbon up front with some oak dryness. I’m disappointed that I can’t really pick up the hop bitterness that is in the original. This is more of a malted beer that is bourbon aged.

Bottle - 600ml. Dark brown and cloudy body, with lighter rich neck. Well bodied, feels powerful yet alcohol doesn’t feel so present, masked by the oaken flavour. The complex blend of aromas of hops, malt, caramel, nuts and vanilla, blend gently and nicely with the with bourbon, oaky flavor. Finale is sweet, lightly bitter. Again, alcohol well hidden. Overall very enjoyable, highly recommended.

Bottle - 600ml. Hazy dark brown body with a thin beige foamy head. Rich, complex malty/hoppy aroma with bourbon, oaky, and vanilla hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its strong taste carries vineous, caramel, and woody notes. Ends with a warming bittersweet finish. Excellent!
