600 ml bottle purchase at the Hawkesbury LCBO on Decembre 12, 2013. Black, small head. Aroma of raw barley and sweet licorice. Taste of dry barley and very raw, woody notes, bitterness cereal. Contrary to the humor of Tom Green, it is rather boring!

On tap at Apex for Gigantic and Friends A: Mahogany body bordering on black. White head. N: Coffee, phenols and band-aid, cocoa, some vanilla, more campfires, and lactose. T: Bittersweet and smokey. M: Medium body, creamy carbonation, no alcohol presence. O: A milk stout for the Scotch fan in all of us. For the most part, at least. Even though I like Laphroiag, this isnít what I really wanted from a sweet/milk stout.

Papillon (382) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2015
600 mL Bottle. Brown-black body with a foamy beige head settling to a tenacious creamy layer clinging to the sides . Aroma of toasted malt, vanilla, floral notes, a hint of resiny hops. The flavor is a pronounced mix of toasted and sweet malts, rich yet thirst-quenching, vanilla and treacle in the aftertaste, and a black coffee finish; very Guinness-like but milder. A fine stout to give Guinness a run for its money.

Pour a black with a thin off-white head. Nose is chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is chocolate with some roasty bitterness and a light lactic sweetness. Creamy mouth feel. Well balanced milk stout!

BreWedge (358) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 14, 2015
On tap @ Earl & Angelo's Belleville. Pours an opaque brown with a small, creamy, persistent head. Aromas are chalk, Malteaser, licorice, and a little alcohol. Tastes are bitter unsweetened chocolate, and coffee. Chalky, full body, solid carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. Not too shabby. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle (600 ml). Split 3-ways.

Appearance: Reddish brown with a medium off-white head and some lacing.

Aroma: Roasted malts, toffee, coffee notes and very light fruitiness.

Taste: Roasted malt, toffee, coffee notes, light fruitiness and anise. Moderate sweetness.

Palate: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Thin mouthfeel. Mild roasty finish.

Overall: Simple and not too sweet, which make it easy to drink for the style. On the other hand, it lacks in flavor and body, so itís somewhat bland.

HippyHop (370) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 1, 2015
Pour is dark and thin, with a short-lived tan cap. Nose is roasted grain, faint chocolate/coffee, but weirdly thereís a lot of fruit - notably I get blueberry, and I also get a lot of pale lager-type grain, which is weird on both counts. Taste-wise itís more like a black lager/schwarzbier than a stout. Itís a touch creamy, but also noticeably watery, with a roasted grain bitterness on the finish. Overall decent but kinda blah.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/ black, tan head. Dies down to a small ring. Nose is malty and sweet, sugary almost. Tastes sweet, milky, malty, a touch of coffee, lactose sugar. Decent for the style.

600ml bottle, deep dark brown color, with a tan head. Mild chocolate, mocha, milk chocolate, brown chocolate nose, with some chocolate cake dough, faint coffee, light sweet lactose sugar, roasted, black, roasted malt accents in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, chocolatey, sweet chocolate milk, sweet lacto sugar, chocolate granola bar, brown chocolate character, with some brownie, chocolate pie, light roasted, chocolate, toasted, caramel, oat malty flavors, leading towards a yeasty, chocolate milk , light lacto sugar sweetness, faint lingering coffeeish, roasted malt bitterness finish.

Nice and smooth. Not too complex or heavy. Certainly a nice sweet malt backbone.

Dark brown pour, 2 finger khaki head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste is chocolate, coffee and some hint notes of roasted malts. Very smooth, and velvety. A bit thin. Overall good for style.
