COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very rare style that was originally created as a competitor to the popular London porter. So what makes it a German porter? Why it’s been brewed with lager yeast of course! The roasted barley provides chocolate flavours and the malt sweetness is complimented by a finely balanced bitterness.

[3975-20110922] Bottle. Roasted coffee ground-infused charcoal-covered multigrain toast aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy tan head. Roasted bark malt flavour has a long burnt aftertaste and very mild vinegar notes throughout. Full body. Borderline stout? I enjoy that it’s not heavy; it’s fairly drinkable and interesting. [cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest] Roasty schwarzbier aroma that is sweet. Opaque dark brown with an off-white cover. Smooth, roasty mocha molasses flavour with a delicate sweet-bitter balance. Light to medium body, clean finish.

A dark brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a resinous tar chocolate with light boiled veggie notes. In mouth, a smooth peaty chocolate with roasted coffee beans, light caramel, tar, not bad. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest Oct. 1 2011.

4 oz on cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2011, October 2, 2011. Dark brown, small head. Aroma of barley and chocolate, a little smoky. Taste a bit chocolaty, hints of barley, oats and wheat a little dry. Avery interesting rare style!

2011-09-23. Black body with a small tan head and lace. 4+ Flavour is sweet malt core with a good amount of dry roasty bitterness. 7+ Dry roasty aroma, dusty malt. 7+ Average plus bodied palate. Not super complex, and a bit more dry and btiter than my own preferences but this is a pretty solid porter. Bottle at Premium Beer Experience, Toronto Beer Week
