Wild Oats Series No. 13 Orange hued with a tall creamy head, Weiss O’ Lantern is a white beer brewed with pumpkin. Pumpkin citrus fruit and spice flavours shine through it’s full, wheat body. The finish is lively, zippy and darn refreshing.

Bottle from LCBO. Nose is pumpkin, spice (cinnamon). Taste is refreshing with pumpkin and spices. Could be more wheaty. OK beer but not something I’d return to.

Draft - Bright citrus and lots of peel. Cloudy gold with a rich white head. Banana, nutmeg and citrus. Not quite getting the pumpkin or spice.

Bouteille 600 mL. Blonde trouble. Nez leger de muscade, de girofle et de muscade. Bouche de longueur moyenne avec une pointe epicee: girofle, muscade, esters et une finale sur la courge. Excellente biere de citrouille.

600 ml bottle from the brewery via Lubiere (merci!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. 10DE12.

App.: Slightly hazy deep golden with a decent rocky white froth. Aroma: Fairly assertive spicing – clove and ginger, a little allspice and cinnamon, some toasty biscuit malts, vanilla or something “creamy”, coriander??, a little citrus, lemongrass, hints of Belgian esters, a little different, still a spiced beer. Palate: Medium body, fairly full, rounded effervescence. Flav.: Slightly subdued spiciness, wheat, peppery, very little malt character, even less yeast character, a touch of biscuit/cracker, mainly spicy; dry with minimal bitterness and a spicy, ginger snap, cookie, graham cracker (power of suggestion from label) finish.

A little different, still not for me.

Nice to see a stronger version this year, with 300 pounds of puree. Pours a hazy golden-yellow colour with a good frothy white head, great retention and superbe thick and foamy lace. Aromas of Belgian Ale yeast, wheat and citrus notes. Medium-bodied with a slight creaminess to it. Beautiful spices show up in the taste (ginger, cloves), with the Belgian Ale yeast, wheaty malt and citrus. The pumpkin is present, but well-balanced in the background. Nice pumpkin wheat ale that is refreshing.

Bottle, old rating from November 2012. Orange pour, huge white head. Citrusy aroma with hint of pumpkin spice. Really nice taste - light foamy wheat body, citrus and yeast - and pumpkin! Exactly as advertised and it works! Dry finish. I really liked this one.

Bottle [600ml]. Pours a hazy, very bubbly, copper-gold with an average size lasting frothy white head. Sweet aroma of yeast, spices, herbs, grain, citrus, light sugar, light pumpkin and a hint of hops. Flavour of wheat, spices (ginger mainly along with more), yeast and fruit (citrus and banana). Average bodied. Not much pumpkin in this but the taste is pleasant and it’s easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The beer pours a hazy orange-gold with a thin tan head, definitely reminiscent of an orange coloured wheat beer. The aroma is pumpkin, spices, and wheat. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is more wheat and spices than pumpkin. While the first couple of Beau’s beers I tried were very good, the others haven’t lived up to the Ontario hype, certainly not at their price point.12

Smells a little like pumpkin but more on the wheat beer end of the scale. Pours a cloudy orange. Palate is a little watery. No head, medium carbonation. Definitely not worth the eight bucks they charge for a bottle of this. On tap at volos.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly hazy orange straw colour with a bunch of foamy white head that dissipates quickly and has a bit of visible carbonation. Smell is as advertised, somewhere between a weiss and a pumpkin beer. You get the slight pumpkin and cinnamon smell along with a bit of wheat yeastiness and maybe a tiny bit of citrus. Palate is fairly light bodied with moderate carbonation. Taste is a bit lacking, it’s got some bitter with a bit of spiciness, but it’s not very intense and doesn’t last very long. Could use some more flavour.
