Wild Oats Series No. 13 Orange hued with a tall creamy head, Weiss O’ Lantern is a white beer brewed with pumpkin. Pumpkin citrus fruit and spice flavours shine through it’s full, wheat body. The finish is lively, zippy and darn refreshing.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a slightly hazy orange straw colour with a bunch of foamy white head that dissipates quickly and has a bit of visible carbonation. Smell is as advertised, somewhere between a weiss and a pumpkin beer. You get the slight pumpkin and cinnamon smell along with a bit of wheat yeastiness and maybe a tiny bit of citrus. Palate is fairly light bodied with moderate carbonation. Taste is a bit lacking, it’s got some bitter with a bit of spiciness, but it’s not very intense and doesn’t last very long. Could use some more flavour.

600ml bottle. Cloudy yellow orange pineapple juice kind of colour, small white head. Mild aroma, with ginger, allspice/nutmeg/coriander, banana and a hint of pumpkin. Taste is ginger, banana, spices and some toasted grain. Very little pumpkin. Overall, it was a tasty beer, but it seemed lacking in pumpkin. I’m not wild about pumpkin beers so that might not be such a bad thing. It was a good spiced hefe.

this is the year of the pumpkin wheat beer in ontario it seems. Pours hazy gold with a lacy white head. The aroma is of orange, cinnamon, squash and a bit of banana yeast. The taste is crisp, well-carbonated, and dry, slight maltiness giving way to a slightly unbalanced amount of hops. This doesn’t stand out too much as a pumpkin beer, but it is nice enough as a weissbier.

LCBO bottle. Pours a light yellow with small white bubbly head. Spicy and yeasty nose. Beau signature yeast and mouthfeel, understated pumpkin flavour and a mild spicy finish. Not bad drinkability. More weiss than pumpkin, a changeup for fans of the style.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2012 October 31, 2012 - on draught at the Bar Hop Black & Orange Fest. Hazy light gold with a decent white fizzy/creamy white head. Aroma is mostly light hefeweiss and spice, just a hint of pumpkin pie character. Taste is even less pumpkin, more lemon an satsuma peel than anything. Average body, solid carbonation, fruity and spicy in the finish. Really pleasant!

Bottle pours hazy gold and white head, lively aroma of citrus and hop plays into taste, flavor of crisp and citrusy hops and what may be ginger, finish lemon and nice hop dryness. Very original style.

It pours yellowish-brown, very hazy (translucent); the head is cream coloured and mousse-like. The Aroma has notes of: yeast, lemons, and barnyard. The taste is medium bitter; there are notes of: pumpkinseed, coriander, pine, and cracker (finish). The palate is medium-low bodied, low carbonation, and short finish. Overall it has potential, but it’s mediocre in its execution.

Bottle, pours a cloudy yellow, aroma is spicey, of cinnimon and a wheaty spice, the flavour is really quite nice, it has a wheat flavour with a good pumpkin spice finish, enjoyable offering.
