3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
600 mL bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with a white head. Nose is all coffee, so is the flavor. Medium to high carbonation and a chalky mouth feel. Unique, but I'm not a fan of flavored beers.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
It pours auburn with amber highlights; the is off-white and foamy. The aroma has notes of: fresh roasted coffee beans, and a slight herbal note. The taste is medium-light bitter; there are notes of: coffee beans, white-grapefruit, and slight cookie. The palate is medium bodied, has light carbonation, thin, and a medium finish. Overall, a really lovely stank - but doesnít carry through.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(650mL bottle from LCBO) Poured clear brownish amber with a good-sized whitish bubbly head. Aroma is coffee, but not in the way that most darker coffee beers are, more like a bag of medium roast grounds. A little caramel malt in the background, and slight hops fruitiness (or just coffee). Flavour again strongly coffee-forward at the start, with earthiness and roast (coffee, not malt). Some amber ale caramel malts in there, a bit toasty, slight tree fruit. Finish slightly hoppy/coffee bitter but honestly not much going on for flavour after halfway, ends limp. Medium carbonation, very watery mouthfeel, not much substance or heft. I like the coffee elements but I could smell a bag of good beans, brew a nice cup and be happier than with this beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
600 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear brownish burnt orange with modest lighttan head. Strong earthy coffee aroma. Taste is similarly really strong, earthy coffee. Bitter coffee in finish. Mellow carbonation. Really coffeish to the point of overwhelming anything else, but interesting and enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear reddish brown with a bit of white head. Smell is a large dark from Bridgehead. I had enough of them during university to instantly recognize the smell. Palate is light bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Taste is a large dark at bridgehead. Iím not sure if I like this so much because itís good or because of nostalgia.

Lots of coffee here. Coffee with caramel leave. Average carbonation, consistency. Overpriced at lcbo as usual with beaus. Pours dark amber. Some head and lacing. On tap at Rhino winterfest.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a light chestnut color with a small off white cap. Aroma of toasted cereals and coffe are intense. Slick mouth feel, rich character. THe front side of this amber ale has massive coffee tastes riding just above some wondrful toasted malts, hopping is in the background and compliments the bitter end of the coffee. Long wet finish where coffee drops back a bit to expose the hop bite.
A very nice brew. If I closed my eyes Iíd have thought I was drinking a coffee-infused bockbier, itís that smooth and well condiioned.

Once again Iím left underwhelmed by Beauís. With all the hype it gets around my parts (perhaps being a Grad student does this--Beauís ticks off all the right boxes for my demographic), I have yet to taste a Beauís beer that really gets me excited. I have yet to have a bad beer by the brewer, but for me even their one-offs canít touch those of other Ontario brewers like Flying Monkeys, Muskoka, Nickel Brook, etc. This beer is no different. It pours beautifully, really great deep ruby red colour with a solid, slightly tan head. The smell and taste is of fresh coffee--and I suppose your love of coffee determines a lot with the beer. Underneath the coffee flavour is some sweet maltiness, a typical amber combination of flavours and not much else. Thin bodied for something that initially seems to be much heavier. A beer that could be more than it is; I wouldnít turn it down, but it is not something I would search out either.
