COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two local companies, Beau’s All Natural Brewing and Bridgehead Coffee, have collaborated to create a special beer to help Ottawans keep warm during Winterlude this year. “WinterBrewed” is a strong amber ale brewed by Beau’s, infused with an organic coffee selected by Bridgehead. The beer selected for the blend holds its own as well: a strong ale with a rich amber colour, which features toasty, biscuity notes from the malt, and a herbal, slightly fruity contribution from the hops.

Aroma Rose , smoke, dry character with gentle richness of malts. Aroma finishing softer with character noted by marshmallows. 7+
Appearance deep ruby look. Slight haze. Bone white lighter top.
Flavor and Palate : medium light bodied. Coffee feel that is dominant. Dry roast till very finish. Rather one dimensional but “coffee guys” will like it.

Tried this one at the Bridgehead on Sparks street in Ottawa, February 2012 (as their launch to the Collabrewator). Pours an amber colour with a slight creamy white head that coats the brew. Mild bitter coffee aromas with fruitiness that gets better as the brew breathes and goes down. Very mild taste with some hop bitterness showing up in the finish. The coffee appears in the aftertaste. Overall started bland, but got was better near the end as it warmed up.

Bottle - 600ml. Limpid amber body with a thin, lasting off-white foamy/creamy head. Its malty/hoppy aroma carries strong coffeeish and grainy hints. Taste is dominated by roasted coffee flavors. Ends with a dry, bitter/roasty finish.

600ml bottle, batch 2096, clean dark amber color, with a frothy bubbly white beige, nice earthy, roasty, green coffee bean, toasted, pale, caramel, wheat vegetable malt nose, with a mild roasted black coffee, burnt toast accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with an earthy, grainy, vegetable, peaish, toasted, roasted, caramel, wheat malt, coffeeish, roasted bean character, with a flowery citrus lime peel, leafy, grassy, tobacco hop flavour, and a burnt toast, subtle toffeeish undertone, leading towards a light sweet maltiness, leafy hop, strong coffee, roasted bean bitterness finish.

Pours a clear light amber with a small white top. Aroma is intense coffee and backed by an average malt bill. Taste is again very coffee forward with a solid malt backing. Well done.

600Ml bottle from Brewery. Stainless/copper aroma, with roasted caramel, coffee sharp notes. A nice thick neck last moderately long on this ale. Its robe is of a nice ruby copper colour, showing its medium carbonation through its non opaque body. It is quite bitter reminding me of an ESB, surprising at first, and of dark chocolate (90%). Feels like a full body beer at first then the thin texture finishes very quickly as a bitter and astringent taste on a sort of herbal finish note. Not bad, would get another one.

Big bold coffee up front and in the end. Also hints of some fruit, something like peach. I also picked up smoke in there. Pours light-amber-orange with a small head that dissipates quickly. Not much in the mouth, pretty light.

Not my favorite style. Reddish pour with a mild grass and medium coffee aroma. A hint of rye and coffee in the taste. The spices leave a mild warming sensation.

From the booth at le mondiale 2011. Amber pour with a light brown head. Aroma of cold coffee right off the bat. This is all coffee. Cold coffee, esspresso, fresh ground coffee beans, mani couldnt get my nose out of this, the best coffee aromaive ever had the pleasure to smell in a beer. The flavor was well....more coffee! Imagine that! There were some nice bready malts though too. The fnish of this beer reminded me of a strong german bock, flavoured with coffee. Awesome stuff!

Lubiere (6979) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2011
A lightly hazed reddish brown ale with a thick brown head. In aroma, definite coffee moka with caramel toffee, some nice burned notes, lightly fruity but overall, very well done. In mouth, a good brown ale with some nice roasted coffee, roasted notes lingering on, caramel, lingering coffee, quite good. Bomber from brewery, bottled Feb. 2011.

600 ml bottle from the brewery via Lubiere (merci!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Packaged on FEB. 8, 2011.

App.: Deep copper with a decent yellowish-tan head. Aroma: Nice rich coffee notes, lighter roast, a bit tangy and bright, green, resinous, peppery notes, some caramel and biscuit, a touch metallic?, nice cocoa notes, chocolate, I like it. Palate: Medium+ body with nice fine, creamy effervescence. Flav.: The malts come through a little more strongly with biscuit, caramel/toffee notes,a little earthy, kinda British, the coffee is more int he background but still quite enjoyable and complex, a bit of cocoa; dry with decent bitterness and a biscuit/caramel malt finish that includes a little gentle coffee.

This works for me.
