8 Ball - Big, Bold & Ballsy
One of our earliest recipes, we wanted to push this big IPA all the way. So we packed it full of Rye and dry hopped it for days with American hops, using old pool balls to weigh the hop sack down in the beer. Hence the name.

Go ahead and sink a few, be rude not to really.

Bottle 0.33l at home (via alesbymail). Colour is orange/brown with small thick white head. Aromas and flavours are caramel, rye, fruits, hops and malts. Quite fresh and easy to drink.

6.2%ABV. Rye IPA. Poured out amber. 12°SRM. Nose is sweet with caramel. There are spicy aromas of fresh cilantro, mint. Pine sap and fresh pine needle with spruce also. There are some mild oily, greasy, crayon-like aromas as well. Mouthfeel is light soap. Palate is sweet and bready with light toast, bread crumbs, croutons, breadsticks. There is a hint of rye spiciness in the tail end of the palate reminiscent of fresh rye bread. Hops are pine needles, spicy with cilantro and capsicum. Hyssop with bitter, herbaceous and light mint. Some wet leaves, forest floor. Finish is actually surprisingly brief and clean.

Tap at the brewery and can at home. Hazy amber with an off white head. Smooth natural carbonation. Sweet juicy grains and pungent resinous US hops. A classy beer indeed.

2/3 at the Beer House St James. Pours slightly muddy auburn, thin lacy head. Nice warm aromas of grain, malt, hops. Lovely balance of bitterness, rye spice, caramel, blood orange on the taste. Quite soft which suits it. Another solid effort from Beavertown.

330ml can from Bacchanalia, Cambridge - Aroma: spicy with some sweet caramel notes. Appearance: cloudy, dark amber/bronze in colour with a thin but frothy head which does not have much retention. Taste: Not as much spice as the aroma suggests, mostly malty caramel with tropical hops, slightly more bitter aftertaste. I like this IPA, but it isn’t special.

Grapefruit, lemon and mango in both, aroma and flavour. Nice bitternes, medium dark amber colour. I like this.

330ml can. Murky orange with good white head that lasts longer than your typical canned beer. Aroma of orange and pine. Medium to strong carbonation for style.Orange and pine flavours, hint of tropical fruit and a slightly spicy dry finish. Lingering Crackerbread after taste. Not quite as juicey as I would have liked, but enjoyable all the same

Beautiful murky color and a big off-white head. Not as much aroma as expected but some nice hoppy and herbal notes. Taste is spicey and moderately bitter.

330 ml can from Wanstead Tap. Pours hazy amber with lasting tanned head. Nice aroma of citrus, orange, resin and some grains, probably rye. Taste starts off specific, rasted grains, most likely from rye. Sweet and bitter, hint of grapefruit follows. Dry body, bit oily and heavy to drink, long finish. Decent beer.
