8 Ball - Big, Bold & Ballsy
One of our earliest recipes, we wanted to push this big IPA all the way. So we packed it full of Rye and dry hopped it for days with American hops, using old pool balls to weigh the hop sack down in the beer. Hence the name.

Go ahead and sink a few, be rude not to really.

From tap, half-pint, drunk in a cosy atmosphere at the splendid Craft Beer Co, Islington. Dark apricot coloured body. Spotty lacing to the glassware. Prominent aroma of citrus shells. Succulent taste character offering a mix of fresh and dried fruits added by lighter notes of spices. Lingering bitter ending. Well balanced. Brit IPA at its best (London, 26.11.2012).

Very misty brown body and small yet stable head. Very concentrated as sweet malt base forms the base aroma, to my surprise. Also has fruity hops and a cherry compote like character. Fairly clear yeast. Taste isn’t as sweet as the nose, but still more malt forward than hoppy. I dig the rye in here. Good beer, not as hoppy as I hoped, perhaps a bit too old? (33cl bottle from Beer City)

Bottle at home, thanks dEnk! Hazy orange pour. Aroma is quite fruity, rye, slightly earthy, some grass and a hint of pine. Flavor is quite fruity up front, nice thick malty sweetness and bitter hoppy in the finish. A bit messy, but well balanced and with a thick body.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a dark amber with a frothy off white head. Nose is full of grapefruit and rye. Can smell the rye straight up. Taste is that nice balance of grapefruit, caramel malts with a lasting bitterness finished off with rye spices. Pretty damn good beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, thnx to MannyGoldberg. Pours a clear, light orange, almost headless beer. The little head that is on there is forced by pouring aggresively and is fading quicky. Aroma is very good, tropical hops and earthy hops combined. A bit messy maybe. Flavor is a tad unbalanced, but nice. Starts off medium bitter, than there’s nothing and after a short while, a bigger wave of bitterness hits you. Some herbal touches in the second wave. Nice, medium sweet malt influence in between waves. Long, lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Very decent!

Nothing strong on the nose. Cloudy golden colour with robust white fluffy head. Nice smooth malt profile, some spicey ness and a dry finish. Medium to heavy body and medium carbonation ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Nose is tropical fruits, mango, papaya a little pineapple, soda, sugars. Slightly thicker nose than some IPAs. Taste is bitter pine leading to mango, sherbert, a touch of caramel and a dab of cream leading to full rye with a strong orange and grapefruit rind finish. Mouthfeel is surprisingly rich. A nice IPA that stands out because of the rye.

Very nice, with the first taste had an intense hop aroma - giving way to some of the maltyness.
