8 Ball - Big, Bold & Ballsy
One of our earliest recipes, we wanted to push this big IPA all the way. So we packed it full of Rye and dry hopped it for days with American hops, using old pool balls to weigh the hop sack down in the beer. Hence the name.

Go ahead and sink a few, be rude not to really.

From tap, half-pint, drunk in a cosy atmosphere at the splendid Craft Beer Co, Islington. Dark apricot coloured body. Spotty lacing to the glassware. Prominent aroma of citrus shells. Succulent taste character offering a mix of fresh and dried fruits added by lighter notes of spices. Lingering bitter ending. Well balanced. Brit IPA at its best (London, 26.11.2012).

Cloudy medium amber body with a large, eggnog head. Good lacing. The aroma is strong and reasonably hoppy, but it lacks a bit freshness. My nose claims that it detects slightly overripe tropical fruits and caramel. It works better in the mouth, it has a strong flavour of slightly overripe tropical fruits, grapefruit, caramel and spices. Light sweet taste with a long and moderate bitter finish. Mid-bodied, dry and with a moderate carbonation. A very nice one, I hope that I get my hands on a fresher can one day.

Słodki aromat czerwonych i pomarańczowych owoców. Truskawki, mango, papaja, arbuz. Barwa bursztynowa, piwo niemal klarowne. Dobre piwo, bardziej west coast IPA. Na pewno warto spróbować.

Fat på bishops. Aromen hintar om sötma, viss fruktighet. Förvånansvärt lätt i kroppen.

Pours a cloudy blonde beer with a big, white head. Smells hoppy, somkey, floral, some pine. Tastes light bitter. Leaves a light, non alcoholic palate. Not my taste to be honest, something in the aftertaste is not my cup of tea.

Arôme très houblonné. Goût très puissant de houblon avec une amertume fort légère. Bière qui se boit facilement.

Nice hoppy bouquet. Rye gives a better body to this brew. Just below the bitter limit of my tongue.

Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Amber-orange with slight haze, small head disappears quickly; Rye malt cereal aromas with some root ginger and something rather unpleasantly funky - like new leather, straight off the sheep; Quite light bodied, low acidity and just a gently spritziness; Initial burst of smoked rye gives way to waves of dried apricot, bitter grapefruit, cinnamon sticks and cracked pepper, all with subtle undertones of fresh mint - particularly through the finish. All in all, a good range of flavours, some as expected, others nice surprises!

Pint @ Euston Tap. Hazy bright yellow. Citric hey nose with some gooseberry and passion fruit on damp hay. Sweet honied palate with a tart middle and quite sweet finish. Well hidden alc. well crafted

Pours a dark red color with a nice big head. Aroma is spicy and resinous with tons of piny hops. Flavor is sweet and spicy with a nice bitter finish. Flavor also has loads of the american hops! Great beer! :)
