8 Ball - Big, Bold & Ballsy
One of our earliest recipes, we wanted to push this big IPA all the way. So we packed it full of Rye and dry hopped it for days with American hops, using old pool balls to weigh the hop sack down in the beer. Hence the name.

Go ahead and sink a few, be rude not to really.

(Bottle): Pours a hazy dark amber, small off white head. Aroma of pineapples, lemon, peaches, sweet malty character and some dark, vinous notes. Taste is sweet, juicy tropical fruit. Some citrus, malt and pine notes hitting aswell. Nice bitterness and super smooth.

Pale golden color, nice carbonation. Amazingly fresh and sharp aromas. Nice bitter fruity taste with a mango-ish hoppy aftertaste. Even though not a big fan of rye beers, this one is an exception.

Sample at SBWF 2014. Smell of ripe fruits, malts but not allot of hops. Similar taste, a light peppery flavour. Refreshing. Very nice mouthfeel, very easy to drink.

330ml Can from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.80):
Another really nice beer from Beavertown, I can see why the brewery is becoming so popular with offerings like this one available. The beer is a really nice, hop-filled one that was a great example of the style and one of the beer UK brewed American IPA’s I’ve had of late. I particularly enjoyed the sweetness coming through to help balance out the strong bitterness from early on and the beer definitely went down easier than it should have; excellent stuff.

Can. Pours a hazy rust-hued orange body with a large creamy off-white head. Nose is rye, grains, nuts, grass, resin, red fruits and hints of grapefruit and black pepper. Taste is strong peppery rye and grain tones, grass, resin, grapefruit and hints of red fruits and citrus. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. Complex, assertive, smooth and yet very drinkable; this could very well be the best beer I’ve had from Beavertown so far.
