Can, Brewdog Leicester. Hazy golden orange with an off white head. Stewed apple with creamy notes. Woody yeast with tart green apple. Farmyard character with brown sugar and pineapple syrup. Some spices. Decent.

Golden beer with a thin head and a savoury, apple-y scent. If it weren’t for the hoppy kick it’d be really quite cidery. I wouldn’t want a lot of it, especially, at the strength, but it’s interesting. Strong, apple taste. Doughy, yeasty flavour. A little hop in there too. Nicely balanced.

330ml can as ’Beavertown Applelation’, 8.7%, BB Dec 2016. Dark orange, clear, lightly sparkling, very big dense foamy off-white head. Aroma is bramley apple, varnish, sugar syrup. Body is rounded, foamy, tingly carbonation. Taste is candi sugar, teacakes, booze, some stewed apple. Really sweet. More of a Belgian strong ale than a saison.

Green apples and saison yeast aroma, it has a crisp finish, and the warm glow of a strong cider. Drinks far cleaner than its abv, had to check that, because I was gluging it.

330 ml can bb 21/12/16, from BeerLovers, Vienna.
Golden, moderate hazy body, with a medium, fluffy, a bit fizzy, yellowish head.
Aroma of barnyard, cheese, apples, bread, some sweet ripe fruits.
Taste is dry, bitter, medium sour, with apples, lemongrass, lemon zest, yeast, bread, white wine, sweet malts, booze.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes very dry, bitter, a bit sour, vinous, zesty, yeasty, fruity, a bit bready, alcohol warming.

Pretty heavy, unique stuff, not a common Saison at all. The flavour is quite different to the nose, a bit overwhelming at first, with a strong dryness and bitterness and a quite heavy alcohol presence for this style. Overall a really interesting beer, while I’m missing some more drinkability or balance.

Can from brewdog, manc. Clear golden small head. Aroma is appley and a bit yeasty, a bit bready. Taste is a bit sour and bitter, a tingly feeling on the tongue. Prickly and medium bodied. Nice.

Dark golden, bubbly with medium off-white head. Bit sour fruity aroma. Soursweet rotten fruits taste with medium bitterness in the background. Bitter aftertaste with sour notes.

Pours cloudy orange amber with medium tall white head. Aroma of apple, honey, wheat. Taste is light apple tart up front followed by an almost overbearing honey sweetness lasting through the finish. Light, smooth body with lively carbonation.

Can at home. Pours clear golden. Nose is sweetish malts, slightly tart apple, yeast, some vinous notes. Taste is vinous and apple notes, warming booze, slightly dry and tart, herbs and light spices, zest. Interesting and a bit unusual, maybe still slightly too strong for the style. Maybe barley champagne would still be better name for this?

Bramley apple Saison. Can, 1/3 liter, cork and cask. Pours medium opaque amber with a medium white head subsiding average slow. Scent is medium dense Saison with a nice apple body. Scents of Farmhouse and surprisingly weizen as well. Very nice. Taste is medium dense Saison with lemon and fruity hops. The nice sour apple body is also present. Finish is a little sharp and dry but great. Really a great beer.
