Fantastisk god black ipa, kaffe, mango, appelsin, tropiske frukter. Helt svart og mørkt flott skum. God og bitter avslutning. Smaker gjerne denne igjen :)

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown, black in glass, massive creamy tanned head. Smell of citrus, toast, zests, dark malts, hints of ash. Moderate sweet, more toast and citrus, hints of roast and coffee, dark malts. Medium bitter with a tail of citrus and zests. Quite nice BIPA

Can. Black, with big tan head. Great orange and grapefruit on the nose, bit of chalkiness, mango and light ash. Juicy as you like upon tasting: loads of mango, orange and grapefruit. Light roastiness comes in, some bitter coffee, big pine resin rises. More minerally chalkiness. Solid bitter resin and grapefruit juice. Medium/full body. Roasted malt and dark choc lingers, as does piney bitterness. Great gear.

Aroma is dominated by tropical fruit hop aroma. Paste again is dominated with hop flavours and a hint of roasted malt. Beer finishes on the bitter side.

Clear, deep brown body with a red hue and a beige head that’s fairly long-lived. Strong and hoppy aroma of tropical fruits (pineapple and mango) with lightly roasted malty notes in the back. There are pleasant hints of caramel and traces of chocolate. Strong flavour of tropical fruits, again pineapple and mango, lightly roasted notes a bit more prominent than in the aroma, pine needles and dry coffee in the back. Light to moderate sweet taste and a pretty heavy bitter and long-lasting finish. Mid to light bodied, fairly oily texture and moderate carbonation. Amen.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 2 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo]

330ml Can - Black with a foamy head. Liquorice, fudge, roasted malt and soapy hops in the aroma. Roasted taste with grain, fudge, liquorice and some slightly soapy hops in the finish. Not as hoppy as the aroma suggested it would be, but very drinkable and nice all the same.

Bottle purchased from Sourced Market, St Pancras. Very dark brown with a bit of transparency. Lots of carbonation with a messive creamy khaki head. Huge aroma of pine, molasses, citrus with hints of clove, liquorice and grass. Taste marries a fairly heavy sweetness with a crisp bitter hop flavour. A bitter finish and aftertaste with salt liquorice notes. Body is thin but the lively carbonation ensures a refreshing, moreish palette.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Black with chestnut highlights and creamy, lacey, steady cappuccino head. 4 Big, resiny, fresh hop nose that opens to reveal a touch of ash. 4.25 Black currant with a touch of cocoa and cola then sugared grapefruit and light pine hops. 4 Roast and spice finish and spearmint linger. Round, smooth, almost medium. 4 4 Surprisingly sweet and aromatic hop profile - not big IBUs or bitterness. No hint of the strength. Not the hop monster I might expect from Beavertown. But integrated and way drinkable ABA without too much roastiness or general aggression. 2nd tasting is not as sugary - a lot of licorice-herbal cough drop - but still dark and dank with no real citrus.

Brown to black body, lasting head. Aroma is somewhat mild on hops, well balanced with malt sweetness. Taste brings forward the hops, fruits, mixed with coffee, liquorice and cara. Not too much of anything really. Lasting bitterness. Maybe missing a bit on the hop aroma. Easy and "light" to drink despite 7,4.
