4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
From tap @ Zakład Usług Piwnych
Deep brown colour with medium beige head, nice lacing. In aroma there are lot of piney, herbal alnd citrusy notes, and very light chocolate. There is also a sunflower note, that is common in a black IPA. In taste it’s rather sweet with hoppy and earthy refreshing bitterness and what is good, if you close your eyes it tastes almost like an IPA. Good job, one of the best Black IPA i’ve tried.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours extremely dark red brown with a roaring foamy tan off white head. Clear and becoming cloudy at the bottom of the bottle. Fantastic lacing. Nose of roasted grains with a whiff of smoke. Pine tar, modest alcohol, molasses, wood and fruit cake. Very solid balance between the roasted malts and the fresh juicy hops. Lemony cola flavours, sitting alongside British porter notes. Lightly salty sponge toffee. Carbonation is ample and very appropriate, lifting what could be a very heavy brew. Warming alcohol. Bitter Chocolate. Palate is clean and relatively simply done. Crusty brown bread. Dry finish. Very approachable and confident brewing. Label looks and feels great. Definite American influence.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: aroma is pine, herbs, dark chocolate, and earthiness. Taste is moderately bitter. Pine and herbs at the front, but then the aftertaste is much more dark chocolate. Some pungent fruitiness in there as well. Quite complex.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Pours opaque black with hug cream coloured head which leaves a lot of lacing. Textbook black IPA. Big IPA aroma. Packed full of zingy citrussy hops. At first the taste is citrussy hops and gives way to malts. Lingering bitter finish. Nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From a cask at the 2015 Atlanta Cask Ale Tasting.
This is basically an American Black IPA made in the U.K. It has a robust contribution from a mix of Western (USA) hops. Better balanced than most ales of this style, the hops and dark malts blend more than clash.

Dark brown colour, good beige head with lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and tropical fruits from hops. Sweet taste with sour, roasted and ash note. Tropical fruits also, too low bitterness (herbal).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Brown pour with a HUGE head. Aroma of pine, coffee, resin, a bit grassy as well. Nice balance here between pine resin and coffee bitterness balanced out with a toasted malt backbone. Medium body, slick mouthfeel, great drinkability for the style. - and I made it this far without a single Ram Jam reference!
