A thick and compact yeast pack sits in the bottle, yet it produces up bright and shimmering. The body a deep ruby, cola brown with a fine and tight bead. Creamy, lax off-white dollop atop lasts and laces well. Piney, resinous, forest floor hops meets scorched coffee beans, twiggy bark and clappy phenols. Wow - really produces on the palate. Huge presence, perfectly balanced. There is hints of vanilla and chocolate icecream, tawny bark, nut husks, roasted malt, charred wood seamlessly tied to piney, resinous hops and an all-encompassing bitterness. Rounded, pronounced. Firm bodied, moderately carbonated, great length where it softens just a little but resides for oh so long on the palate. Quite spicy to add to it all. Thick, full. Lots of dark chocolate. Delicious. (33cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

Pours black with cappuccino head. Very balanced aroma. Loads of roasted malt, coffee, tobacco and green hops. Creamy and vinous palate, almost like an Imperial Stout. Aftertaste is sweet, bitter hops, floral, coffee and lingering roasted finish. Overall: Wow, this is craft beer. Challenging, extremely balanced and enjoyable.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry. Aroma is of strong tropical fruits, some citrus, and peach. Pitch black in appearance. Taste is a explosion of tropical fruits, chocolate, grapefruit, citrus and some maltyness to finish. Nice lingering bitter finish. Lovely!

Bottle at home from mchughs. Pours dark brown lasting tan foam head. The aroma is really something else. Huge pine, resin, spruce, dry earth, some roast coffee. Fantastic. Flavour is coffee, earth, lactose, orange rind, grapefruit bitterness on finish. Really balanced with a creamy mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Full of flavour on a medium body. This is really good.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud enjoyed at home
Pours dark brown, black in glass, massive creamy tanned head. Smell of citrus, toast, zests, dark malts, hints of ash. Moderate sweet, more toast and citrus, hints of roast and coffee, dark malts. Medium bitter with a tail of citrus and zests. Quite nice BIPA

Can. Black, with big tan head. Great orange and grapefruit on the nose, bit of chalkiness, mango and light ash. Juicy as you like upon tasting: loads of mango, orange and grapefruit. Light roastiness comes in, some bitter coffee, big pine resin rises. More minerally chalkiness. Solid bitter resin and grapefruit juice. Medium/full body. Roasted malt and dark choc lingers, as does piney bitterness. Great gear.

Aroma is dominated by tropical fruit hop aroma. Paste again is dominated with hop flavours and a hint of roasted malt. Beer finishes on the bitter side.

Clear, deep brown body with a red hue and a beige head that’s fairly long-lived. Strong and hoppy aroma of tropical fruits (pineapple and mango) with lightly roasted malty notes in the back. There are pleasant hints of caramel and traces of chocolate. Strong flavour of tropical fruits, again pineapple and mango, lightly roasted notes a bit more prominent than in the aroma, pine needles and dry coffee in the back. Light to moderate sweet taste and a pretty heavy bitter and long-lasting finish. Mid to light bodied, fairly oily texture and moderate carbonation. Amen.
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 2 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo]
