Pours a deliciously thick black with an amazing hop burst rising out of the glass. Packed with the pungent fruit of citra hops the beer’s backbone holds it up well. Exquisitely balanced, with a moderate roast character letting the hops do the bittering. There is sweetness in there but exactly the right amount. This is a hell of a beer.

9.1.2015. Almost black, big head. Aroma is strong and intense. Plenty of roasted and burnt malts, lots of piny hops. Taste is very malty and piny hops, roasted, maybe coffee. BIPA on the malter side.

Draft taste sample at Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2015 day 2 (07.03.2015) Vichte Belgium.Jeca, Alberto and Boban.Pour it dark color with small white head.On the nose roasted malt.Taste and aroma of roasted malt, not so good, hops are so killed in this situation, to roasted I think.

Pours brown with an abundance of light brown head. Aroma of biscuit, malt, citrus, pine, cocoa and root beer. Tastes of same: complex, smooth and sweet: am i mixing my senses if i say it both looks like and tastes like a rootbeer float? One of my faves.

Can. It pours opaque black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is tropical fruity and licorice. Citrussy flavor with licorice notes. Long bitter finish. Light ashy notes.

330 ml bottle from LCBO via my bro, served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep clear brown with a full tan head. Aroma: Strong resinous and piney hops, a little roasted malt, some caramel/toffee, quite nice. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation. Flav.: Pine that is almost raw...like chewing on a tree, eucalyptus, faint roasted malt, resin, less enjoyable than the nose, but still decent; dry with pretty good bitterness and a long, resinous, very evergreen finish.

Quite the BIPA! I could handle a second bottle.

Black ipa esplosiva, con una carica di luppoli fruttati che si intreccia perfettamente col tostato dei malti, arricchito da note di cioccolato e caffé. Completa, elegante, molto molto più che buona.

Pour is cola dark with a thick, creamy, persistent off-white cap that lasts forever and leaves some nice lace. Nose is roasted coffee and grain, chocolate, piney/floral/citrus hops. Taste is a sweet chocolate malt, caramel, citrus with a bitter coffee/pine/citrus finish. Really drinkable stuff.

Restrained aroma in a purple-black fluid. Full bodied taste has an enticing hint of coffee. Restrained finish leaves one wanting another.

(Beavertown Black Betty) Can 330 ml at home, served into a big tulip, ABV 7.4% Black colour on the body, tall and thick, creamy, beige head. Very good retention, light lacing on the glass. Aroma is full of citrus, grapefruit, light tangerine, light coffee and chocolate underneath. Taste is nicely bitter with citrus, grapefruit, roasted malts, grassy hops, more fruity notes, finishes with a sweet touch, just enough to bring the balance. Medium thick body, good carbonation, smooth and creamy on the palate. A very tasty black IPA, greatly balanced between hops and roastiness, between bitterness and sweetness.

Can (33cl): Thanks Tinus: Served in a Duvel glass at 13 degrees Celsius: Deep dark brown with a creamy beige light brown head. Great aroma of mostly hops with some hop fruit, soap, and flowers and a subtle roasty note. Very nice and inviting! Flavour is a delicious mix of fruits, hops, roast, malt roast, toast and chocolate tints, some bitters, floral notes, flowers, and again hops! Freaking delicious and balanced! Aftertaste is roast, hops, bitters, light fruit, subtle and smolth. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel and more than medium bodied! Great stuff! Need a case of this! I’m impressed!
