Bloody ‘Ell – We have never brewed a straight IPA at Beavertown, why change the habit of a lifetime! Here we take a stripped back IPA malt bill and highly hop it with the tropics of Amarillo and Citra and pile head on with kilos of Blood Orange zest and juice late in the boil, bringing you a smack of citrus and hints of warm orange aromas. One of our favourite and most popular seasonal brews. We will be canning Bloody ‘Ell too from February until the bloody oranges run dry!

@ Havregatan. Flaska (330 ml) från Systembolaget (33:-). Fruktig, citrus och apelsin, hög sötma, karamell, medelfyllig, oljig i konsistensen. Avslutningen är torr och besk med fruktiga toner av citrus.

Draught@Amsterdam, Helsinki. Cloudy golden color, frothy white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma. Flavor follows the aroma with some rich maltiness and citrus. Oily mouthfeel. Full body, medium carbonation. Not bad.

Draught @ Ölrepubliken. Pours hazy pale golden with a big frothy and fluffy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky and soapy lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity with crackers, grapefruit juice, blood orange juice, mango, Campari, freshly cut grass, pine needles, orange zest and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter, fruity and tiny grassy. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent, very tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with white bread, cookie dough, grapefruit juice, unripe tropical fruits, Campari, freshly cut grass, pine needles, orange zest and lemon zest. Solid fruity IPA. Perhaps a bit too sweet for top grades but this is good.

Many thanks to Gavin for providing the bottle. Pours a slightly hazed apricot pulp-yellow color, with a decent, stable head. Offers an intense lemon peel fruitiness, entangled in dank, wet grass. Its hoppiness is extremely well pronounced, utmost juicy with a lime crispness to it, topped off by just a hint of prickly kiwi and ripe orange. Bready malts lend the neccessary balance, while the hops form the nose of the beer, in the most beautiful way possible. Got a medium carbonation to, while exhibiting far more developed malts than the mose revealed, nontheless the beer tastes very refreshing and juicy. Tastes of cakey malts, which got a hint of bread to them. Without neglecting its pronounced malt backbone the beer developes a fruity, pleasantly bitter hop impact, actually revealing bread and toffee accompanied by young orange. While the hop profile remains the same throughout, it finishes with a decent dryness, adding to the still present cakey malts. Smells actually much more dank and hop forward than it tastes. The beer exhibits a luscious orange fruitiness throughout though, tying nose and taste together.

On tap @ Le Triangle (Paris). Golden color with a white head with medium duration and nice lacework. Aroma has notes of citrus, straw and grassy hops. Flavor with a good bitterness, citrus hints and fresh on palate. The final is bittery with good duration. Easy drinkable.

Köpt på Systembolaget Fältöversten. Lite väl Besk för min smak. Genomsyrar alla steg i ölen, tyvärr. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

[Draught at Le Festin Nu, Paris, May 24] 42nd rating of my Paris/Amsterdam trip. Pours a deep copper-gold with an average size diminishing frothy white head. Really nice aroma of blood orange and hops first followed by biscuity malt and citrus fruit. Refreshing flavour follows the aroma: Blood oranges and hops followed by biscuit and citrus. Dry moderately bitter finish. Medium bodied. Super stuff.

Bue en canette de 33cl. Belle blonde, fine mousse blanche. Houblon prédominant, légère pointe de citron (mais je n’ai pas trouvé l’orange sanguine). Finale agréable.

Canned from.Coppers, Newcastle. Hazy pale amber colour, lovely foaming white head. Has a big, earthy aroma, with the oranges voming through perfectly. Dry woody palate, exceptionally flavoured, smooth, belies its strength, but there’s late warmth in the chest, just to remind you....!
