Believe it or not, we had never brewed a pale ale when we started. But once our experimental Alpha Series was launched around 6 months in, we went about constructing the Pale of our dreams. We tweaked malts and hops continuously and eventually came to release a brew known as Gamma Ray. This name came from our Creative Director Nick Dwyer, Who at that time was working on the floor at Duke’s Brew and Que. Nick brought illustrations in every week. It was undeniable, the guy was a force and his imagery resonated deep. We all loved spacemen and lasers – again, simple. So we named the experimental brew Gamma Ray and Nick drew the design - drawing heavily from “mars attacks” and warren ellis graphic novels. Our baby was born. From its release Gamma was perfection for us and joined the Beaver core range. The concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

On tap @The Local Pub. A delicious, tasty, hoppy pale ale! Has a fruity malty piney hoppy aroma. Big pine kick in the taste , well carbonated, nice sweetish bitterness in the finish, gets better as it warms.

Keg at The Swan, Stone. A hazy deep golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of grapefruit, mango, peach, some orange, slight caramel, a little pine and subtle floral hops. Taste of grapefruit, mango, peach, some orange, a little caramel and slight floral hops. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A lingering, dryish, citrusy, floral hop bitterness in the finish. It’s a simple American hopped pale ale but it’s so well made and perfectly balanced. There is better but this is hoppy and another good beer from beavertown.

can-sampled at Crobar in London. Pours slightly lightly hazy orange hue with a small soapy white head with sparse lacing. nose is big bright floral notes I’m thinking Citra? Somewhat reminiscent to fresh Zombie Dust. Flavors are a huge wallop of citrus and floral hops. Very low bitterness. Seems a lot like zombie dust actually in the flavor profile however, this beer doesn’t get the hype that one does. very very nice apa that I would drink all the time if I lived in London.

Can. Aroma of sweet citrus, pineapple, peaches, nectarine, mango, hints of breadiness. Pours hazy yellow with a pillowy white head. Taste is medium to softly bitter and medium to softly sweet. Lots of sweet fruity flavour with nice tropical elements. Lacks a bit of bitterness and gets a little more malty as it warms. Medium to light body, easy drinking, average carbonation, sweet fruity finish with a tad grapefruit bitterness. Pretty nice.
