Believe it or not, we had never brewed a pale ale when we started. But once our experimental Alpha Series was launched around 6 months in, we went about constructing the Pale of our dreams. We tweaked malts and hops continuously and eventually came to release a brew known as Gamma Ray. This name came from our Creative Director Nick Dwyer, Who at that time was working on the floor at Duke’s Brew and Que. Nick brought illustrations in every week. It was undeniable, the guy was a force and his imagery resonated deep. We all loved spacemen and lasers – again, simple. So we named the experimental brew Gamma Ray and Nick drew the design - drawing heavily from “mars attacks” and warren ellis graphic novels. Our baby was born. From its release Gamma was perfection for us and joined the Beaver core range. The concept was to create a juicy tropical beer. A brew you can sit on and drink all day, rammed with juicy malts and huge tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Massive additions of whole leaf American hops are added in ever increasing numbers at the end of the boil giving huge hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped for days, driving the punchy aromas so you can smell it from miles away!

Pours a hazy copper with a thin white head. Lovely citrus fruit aroma. Initial sweet fruit taste and finished with a nice bitterness.

Keg. Faint pineapple rock on the nose. Lacks the heady tropical smell of others in this category. Taste is decent without being stellar. Meets the tasting notes but was expecting more from this one. Very nice but prefer Brewdog’s Punk IPA. This is similar but it just feels a bit muted. Shame.

Guldig och grumlig med en fluffig krona. Tropisk frukt, bra beska, lite karamell. Mycket bra kropp. Jävligt god apa helt enkelt! @ bishops Malmö ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl can from Chez Alain, Rennes. Hazy golden with a thin but dense head. Nose is lime zest, coconut, pineapple. On mouth, pine resin, butter biscuit, roasted pine kernels. Medium sweet with quite a highly bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation. Lovely pale ale.

33 cl can @ home. Pours cloudy golden with a white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma and flavour are tropical fruit, pine, and flowers - with a bitter finish.

On tap at apex. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A light biscuit hoppy nose. The flavor is big toast, lemons, zesty fruity hops. Smooth. Good.

Una de las mejores cervezas de BEAVERTOWN, con poca graduación pero con mucho sabor, seca en boca. Preferible tomarla de lata.

Draught at Billie’s Bierkafetaria in Antwerp (where the waitress incorrectly advertized it as a Napar beer). Thick and dense, creamy, regular, nicely lacing, pale yellowish white head over a hazy orange blonde beer. Aroma of dried orange peel, roasted peanuts, redcurrant, hints of biscuit, toasted bread, pine needles and stale sweat. Crisp, cleanly fruity onset, restrained peach and pineapple with red berry sourishness surrounding it, fairly strongly carbonated, bit minerally, soft caramelly and lightly biscuity malt sweetishness leading to an aromatic finish of mildly citrusy and slightly piney hops with a touch of raw parsley, minerals and juicy malts coming through. Quite nice, but closer to an actual IPA than to an APA to me, since the emphasis lies more on the citrusy hops than on the malts.

Can 33cl shared by Dominique Thanks. A clear yellow beer with medium head. Nose is intense on fresh apricot and tropical notes. Aroma is on the same fruit notes, very bitter but low on the body side, pleasant APA but nothing exceptional at all, very overrated.
