This vividly flavoured stout is a great example, with powerful piny hoppy notes melding with chocolate and oozy brown malt and wafts of tropical fruit on the aroma.

Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, piney and slightly fruity hops and cocoa. Flavor is roasty and hoppy, slightly fruity and piney, with chocolate and nice bitterness. Medium-bodied, pretty rounded mouthfeel.

Can from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours very deep brown with a tan head. Lovely tropical aroma with pineapple especially. The taste starts with pineapple and light spice with caramel undertones before creamy chocolate comes in on the finish. Absolutely loved it. Very drinkable and full flavoured.

on tap at Craft Beer Fest Vienna Tasting Sessions. kindly shared by Sebilinz. black color, small coffee-colored head. smells quite malty roasty, strong spices, light coffee roasty, grass. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of strong spices, malty roasty, light herbal / grassy, light pines. roasty bitter finish. decent, spicy / herbal notes too strong for my liking. overall quite decent though.

Can from Bottle DogKingX. Pours dark brown with a huge, fine yellow-beige head. Exciting chocolate and fruity hops aroma. Quite malty start followed by dry tropical fruit hop bitterness as well as roasted notes. Expecting a bit fuller body, maybe, but otherwise very well made.

Black color with browny tones and a medium brown head. Aroma is roasty, with coffee, cocoa, but also grapefruity and citric. Taste follows the aroma, roasted malrs, dark chocolate, coffee beans, tropical and citrus fruits. Slightly bittesweet aftertaste. I would call this a hopped up Stout more than a Black IPA.

On tap at The Beer Market, pours a dark mahogany with a small tan head. Nose brings out a great balance of woody roasted malt and piney hops. Flavour is wonderfully balanced as well, with an excellent balance of roasted malt and dry piney hops. Just about the best balance of malt and hops for the style. Excellent.
