Smog Rocket Smoked Porter - Thick, dark & Robust
Inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the Steam Train.
Back in those days, the Porter was the everyday toast of the working-class masses. Let’s raise a glass to the people that made Britain ’Great’.

Porter. The way it’s meant to be.

Purchased in 33cl can from Prohibition Wines. Cans seem to be the latest fashion for London craft brewers. Groovy 1960’s Roy Lichtenstein-style label. Black colour with an amber head like an extremely large espresso coffee. Aroma of coffee and hints of wood smoke. The taste is dominated by roast malts and coffee flavours with a background of wood smoke. Slightly milky, treacle sweetness at the start with hints of star anise. Very nice mouth-filling flavour and (at 5.4%) plenty of backbone. Satisfying finish, with a complex mix of milk, smoke, spices and roasted flavours.

This is quite simply a great bottled beer, despite having the appearance of something I just drained out of the motorbike sump. To be fair, Porter is probably getting close to my favourite style, so I may be a little biased....
