Smog Rocket Smoked Porter - Thick, dark & Robust
Inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the Steam Train.
Back in those days, the Porter was the everyday toast of the working-class masses. Let’s raise a glass to the people that made Britain ’Great’.

Porter. The way it’s meant to be.

On tap, at The Local Pub, Athens. Mahogany - black, with a generous tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and smoke. Taste, more of the same earthiness, with some vanilla and a hint of licorice. Proper bitter aftertaste. I am seriously starting to develop an addiction to just about everything Beavertown brews, and this is another new favourite. Really interesting, but also managing to be balanced, and just a joy to drink.

Keg in Stormbird. Opaque very dark brown, creamy foam off white to tan head. Nose is black coffee, black sugar, lactic, sweet, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate. Taste has some saltier molasses flavours against the sweet black sugar, dark chocolate, lactic, and malty roasted malt, coffee, smokey malt.

Flaske 0,33l spandert av Rune og delt under samling hos ham 6 Feb 14. Svart. Pent - litt farget skum som etterlater kniplingslacing. God lakrisaroma med ett lett røykpreg. Smaken godt balansert. Undertone av røyk men også lakris & sjokolade. KI=4.

330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a huge beige head, which lasts reasonably well, but does not leave much lacing. Smoke, roasty malt and very mild citrus hops make up the aroma. Mild citrus and herbal hops lead through into a roasty, smoky mid-palate, with a smoky finish and aftertaste. My bottle may have been slightly past its BBD (it’s hard to tell, as that was printed, not in the "expires" box, but on a dark section of the label!), but I didn’t find this very impressive. I like a smoked beer, but this one tasted of smoke and not much else. Disappointing.

Stonking beer! Really smoked in flavour, incredible hit of complex flavours. Lacks a level of sweetness which would soften the bitterness and fuller the taste. But still incredible. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Pours nearly black with a small tan head, leaving a fair lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate notes, caramel and smoke. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and with bitter notes. Medium bodied, oily texture an soft carb. A nice porter indeed.

330ml bottle bought at Sourced Market, St Pancras in London. Moderate, fawn-coloured head to a coal black body. Lacing rings down the glass. Prominent aroma of smoked, mid-sweet malts. Dark malts with hints of chocolate, offset by leafy hops. Roasted bitter ending. Well bodied. Pleasing (shared with Finn, Tromsø 06.02.2014).
