3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark brown with a very thin beige head which dissipates extremely quickly. Aroma is strong coffee, BBQ sauce, smoke, toffee and caramel. Taste is smoked meat, cold coffee, caramel and a light bitterness. For a porter, is disappointingly thin bodied and seems watered down. Short to medium bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl can. Dark brown with beige head. Aroma has some dairy notes with chocolate, laundry, nuts and zest. Quite creamy but medium thick mouth feel. It has a delicate carbonation. The beer is not complex but deeply roasted and juicy for this style. Ashes, black chocolate and some dairy. Mostly delicately sweet, dry and medium roasted bitter finish. Nice balance overall. A good porter there.

33cl can at home from Oedipus Int. Beer Festival 2016. Nose is light smoky roasty. Body is pitch black, head is medium, beige, creamy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is toast, roasty, smoked wood, dark roasted coffee, ash. Light sweet, medium bitter. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium bitter, slightly watery. Medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation. Easy roasty beer, smoke is not that dominant, simple, nice one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from the can. Black beer with a creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and smoke. Taste is smokey with roasted malts and coffee. Some nice carbonation which gives it a fresh texture. A very good smoked porter, not too heavy in abv which makes it a good drinkable porter, if you love the taste of smoke.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.33 l can from ’De Bierkoning’. Clear, very dark brown to black with a beige head. Sweetish, malty, quite roasty and a little smoky aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice and a touch of hazelnut. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty and a little smoky taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and hazelnut, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly smoky finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Nice, especially for that abv!

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20

Really black smoky porter. Too hardcore for me. Fairly undrinkable. Espresso coffee and liquorice taste. Too strongly smoked for me

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Wooden smoke, roastiness and dark chocolate meld in this balanced Smoked Porter.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam dips into the blackness.
-This is not a peat bomb, which I appreciate.
-Smoke levels are moderate.
-The finish is slightly smoky, slightly roasty, with a touch of acidity and molasses.

330ml can. Thick brown pour with a mocha head. Coffee aroma with notes of burnt petrol fumes and bitter dark chocolate. Flavours of burnt coffee with a contrast of cream. The aftertaste is mainly faint woodsmoke, with a hint of game meat.
