Smog Rocket Smoked Porter - Thick, dark & Robust
Inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the Steam Train.
Back in those days, the Porter was the everyday toast of the working-class masses. Let’s raise a glass to the people that made Britain ’Great’.

Porter. The way it’s meant to be.

Pours very dark brown with a very thin beige head which dissipates extremely quickly. Aroma is strong coffee, BBQ sauce, smoke, toffee and caramel. Taste is smoked meat, cold coffee, caramel and a light bitterness. For a porter, is disappointingly thin bodied and seems watered down. Short to medium bitter finish.

Can from Craft Beer Co Brixton. Black with tan head and a little lace. Very smoky aroma with roasted coffee and chocolate. Smokey roasted coffee chocolate nuts and mild plummy fruit with roasted woody ashy bitter dry finish. Medium light quaffable body. Medium carbo. Excellent.

Can; acquired from Hop Burns and Black. Cask; at Dukes on a special occasion; keg at the brewery many times and also canned take-outs. I have drunk this beer an awful lot this year. I love the dark smokey ones and this is no exception! Appearance is jet black with a nice beige head which dissipates to around the edge-of-the-glass. Its aroma is charcoal; wood fires; old English pub smell; oak; musty perfume; old socks and damp running trainers. A lot of ash and smokey tobacco notes. If a BBQ was in a beer it’ll taste like this. It’s exactly the concept which was about this beer which is to remind us of the excellent ribs and meat at Dukes joint. In a takeaway can to have at home. The taste is charcoal; wood; oak; licorish; blackberries; penny black jack sweets; Cuban cigars; ash and dough. A really complicated and smashing beer. This is one for the long hard dark nights and one for the malt heads!

Hazy, dark red brown. Huge, frothy-fluffy, offwhite head. Aroma has light smoke, chocolate. Roasted, smokey, fruity, chocolate flavour. Light mouthfeel but still rather solid. Really nice.

Bottle, 5.4%. The aroma seems a little smoked, but not distinctly so. Black colour. Big stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is roasted, coffeeish, slightly smoked and slightly sweet. Has a spicy hint towards the end. Late coffee aftertaste. Has a lot of character, this one.

Bottle @ Hoppy Advent Race in Space, Sønderborg. Pours hazy coffee brown with airy but stable light tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and lactose, with notes of chocolate. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and chocolate, with notes of lactose and coffee. Touches of roast. Mild, milky and coffeelike aftertaste. Nice, indeed.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet Manglerud enjoyed at home
Pours quite dark, black in glass, with a dense creamy tanned head. Smell of burnt wood, smoke and peat, toast and dark malts. Moderate sweet, mild smokey flavor, some more burnt wood, hints of toast and ash. Moderate bitter finish. High drinkability factor. My only complain would be that i want even a bit more smoke in this one

Dark brown, foam is brownish but there’s not much of it. Aroma is full and soft, filling your nostrils with coffee and chocolate. Slight smokiness detectable in the nose. Taste is nicely chocolaty and pleasant. Small spiky roasted stings. Nice and enjoyable, would drink more of it. Not too complicated as a beer but what is there is well done.
