3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark brown with a very thin beige head which dissipates extremely quickly. Aroma is strong coffee, BBQ sauce, smoke, toffee and caramel. Taste is smoked meat, cold coffee, caramel and a light bitterness. For a porter, is disappointingly thin bodied and seems watered down. Short to medium bitter finish.

12 ounce bottle
One of my last bottles from a trip to England was shared with b3shine one night. A truly excellent smoked beer hits all the right notes and proves there is more to the UK brewing scene than boring low ABV brown ales. If Kernel or Beavertown ever make it across the ocean I expect some major buzz.
Aroma / Appearance - The heavy foamy head settles in a few seconds to a light layer. Underneath an inky black base sits restlessly. Smoked ham, ash, coffee, and malt give this a very ashy texture of a cold fire. If there is a flaw it is the feeling of being a bit heavy for 5.4%.
Flavor / Palate - Bacon, smoke, powdered sugar, and malt effortlessly share center stage. Dark chocolate and anise round out a balanced profile. More on the hammy end of the spectrum this release is refreshing. More than two might be overwhelming for a single sitting. That said grab one if you happen to find it on an trip to the UK.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Oddbins London Bridge. Pours dark brown with a thin khaki head. Nose is cured ham, vanilla bean, bakers chocolate and mild grass. Taste is very pea and ham soup like - think ham hock. Quite nut forward with dry roasted coffee beens. Very robust. Has that soy feel to it - sweet and nutty. Not bad if a little thin

330ml from Utobeer in Borough Market, London (£3.50):
A fairly unbalanced beer and one that featured the dreaded taste of cured ham, although thankfully not as strong as with some of the German smoked beers out there. Still not a good beer sadly.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Smoke, chocolate, and scorched wood in the nose. Thin, dark drown color. Light chocolate, light smoke, some yogurt and cream, with a buttery finish. Some of these notes remind me of lighter (pale) styles. Thin body. Nice, fairly simple, with pleasant small flavors.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by Maekchu at Tadg’s, thanks! 5.4% smoked porter, dark brown with a quickly dissipating brown head. Great smokey bacon aroma, full mouthfeel with a great smokey bacon, roast taste. I really liked this beer, very solid. Very flavorful for such a low ABV.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with a small head.
Nose shows smoked malt, campfire notes, sweet toasty malt and some nutty notes.
Very similar falvours; smoked, toasty and light roasted malt.
Needs more carbonation.
Enjoyable stuff, quite light for a porter.
