Smog Rocket Smoked Porter - Thick, dark & Robust
Inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the Steam Train.
Back in those days, the Porter was the everyday toast of the working-class masses. Let’s raise a glass to the people that made Britain ’Great’.

Porter. The way it’s meant to be.

Pours very dark brown with a very thin beige head which dissipates extremely quickly. Aroma is strong coffee, BBQ sauce, smoke, toffee and caramel. Taste is smoked meat, cold coffee, caramel and a light bitterness. For a porter, is disappointingly thin bodied and seems watered down. Short to medium bitter finish.

Keg at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe. Dark brown with a craggy beige head. Full of flavour- chocolate, smoke, gammon, tobacco, cough mixture, leather- and yet smooth. Lovely rich indulgent sipping beer. Nice one.

Pours dark brown with small head. Aroma: roast, malt, vanilla, some lactose. Taste: dark malt and roast, with coffee and cocoa taste. I do not get any smoke malt taste. Nice one, but the name suggests smoke, which is missing here.

Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is malt, roasty, caramel, bread, disappointingly low on smoke. Taste is light sweet leading to more of a roasty finish with smoke again failing to make much of an appearance.

330 ml can from Ales by Mail.
Black body, with a big, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of ash, wood, coffee, some dark chocolate, slight dark fruits.
Tastes of ash, wood, bacon, coffee, some nuts, some sweet dark fruits.
Medium to light, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finnishes quite light, roasty, smokey, slightly dry.

Nice one, although a bit too easy for my taste. The smoke notes are well integrated, not too dominant, but overall I’m missing some more body. Not the best Smoked Porter I’ve had, but still enjoyable.

Lata 33 cl

Heavy smoke on the nose. Pleasant palate, not too heavy... Nice long after taste.

330ml can from Camperdown Cellars Deep ruby beer with beige head. Good nose of dry roasted malts, dark chocolate and charred woody smoke. Moderate carbonation, body starts rich drying out with smoky roastiness. Quite rich upfront with good hit of chocolate, toffee and toasted nuttiness, dying out with woody smokiness, with a hint of hop bitterness. Good stuff, plenty of smoke in there but not OTT.
