4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2013 On tap at Craft Beer Co - Islington on 17th November 2012. Almost black with a cream coloured foam ring and spot lacing. Rich roast aroma with festive berries. Rich and intense roast malts without excess sweetness, mild smoke, berry fruits and coffee in-mouth. Smoky finish with citric tang and herbiness. Smooth, slightly leathery mouthfeel. Exquisite.

I love this beer. Reminds me of that first taste of Coconut Porter. That charred taste is just wonderful. The smokiness is so well balanced. Brains greatest smoked porter? Yes, I think so.

Exquisite. Chocolate aromas followed by a mocha flavour that washes across the palate. Finally the smokey kick in the tail finishes things off. The can says it is the drink that made Britain great. Made in Norway....

Leathery, dark malt nose. Some subtle smokey tones. Nice tan head with slight lacing over very dark beer. Dense, smooth mouth feel with good carbonation. Roast malt flavour with a balanced herbal hop angle. Dry smokey biscuit finish. Enjoyment increased as the flavours seemed to mellow and blend in my mouth. Very nice

330 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG III. Thanks to JefVerstraete! Dark brown & huge tanned head. Smell is very intense mocha, milk chocolate mixed with a big amount of smoke (quite DE-like), even faint lacto. Taste is mix of chocolate ice-cream, lots of smoke, milk chocolate, mocha, light roast, touch bitter, lingering sweetness. Substantial body, very nice stuff.

Bottle from Sourced Market, St. Pancras, London. A thick black beer that pours with a very large foamy tan head. It has strong chocolate and coffee flavours, nutty and roasted notes with more beech roast on the finish.

Stonking beer! Really smoked in flavour, incredible hit of complex flavours. Lacks a level of sweetness which would soften the bitterness and fuller the taste. But still incredible.
