harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 12, 2009 On tap at GBBF 2009. One of the joys of this festival is getting to try different German beers on tap. Orange haze colour. Lasting beige head. Pretty good. Yes a little heat from alcohol. But it doesn’t go over the top. Never sticky. Good bock. Lovely and drinkable. Rune (2765), Tromsø, Norway Sep 16, 2009 Sampled, gravicask, from the German Bar, GBBF 09. Almost clear, golden body, small off-white head. Malty-fruity smell with underlying alcohol heating. Earthy malts in flavour mixed with hints of tart fruits. More alcohol heating to the finish. A bit heavy to drink, but it has got, to be fair, some moments of joy (Earls Court, 07.08.2009). Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Aug 17, 2009 Cask at GBBF09. Alround rating: Very sweet, some brown malt in there aswell as the syrupy sweet pale, yeast character is a bit dominating and pepperyness off the alcohol. But its still failry drinkable as i ordered this by accident and had to sink it in less than 45 seconds as we were moving on. TBone (6681), Pori, Finland Aug 17, 2009 Draught@GBBF 2009.
Amber color, good creamy off-white. Caramel, grass, vegetables, light alcohol. Lots of alcohol and grass, some vegetables. Very alcoholic and bitter. Quite sweet as well. Way too alcoholic.
maeib (4683), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Aug 12, 2009 Draught GBBF 09. A chill hazed light amber coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma has fairly sweet malt notes together with some biscuity notes. The taste is sweet and strong; biscuity and malty. Seems big but then finishes too short. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Aug 10, 2009 Draught@GBBF2009. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is alcohol, strong bready malts along with some slight fruityness. Flavour is malty, bready and also has some slight alcohol in it. Quite balanced though. Pleasant. hughie (3019), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 6, 2009 Cask, gravity, at GBBF ’09. Thanks to maeib for this one. Amber with a small white head. Burnt, carroty malt aroma. Sweet taste with a hint of strong tea and cigarette ash. Sharp bitter finish. Oakes (8077), gone rambling, Vietnam Jul 22, 2009 Hazy amber. Herbal aroma with light malts. Very spicy, hoppy example with a fresh, fruity character...very un-bock-like. Long bitterness, good yeast and carbonation. The malts are chewy and rich. Fun, but dangerous beer. It drinks very easy for a strong bock and the hops make it quite appetizing.
