Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep ruby amber coloured, small, but stable lacy off-white head; quite robust sweet caramelly plus light roasted malty aromas with a hoppy background; solid sweet(-malty) and bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; fruity and tosted-malty aromas (a bit Stout-like) in the drier caramelly-hoppy finish. Very good, well balanced and fully flavoured stuff........

Ernest (5183) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 25, 2011
Bottle rated in Nov 2011. Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, milk chocolate, nuts - hazelnut/almond/pecan), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a light note of vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Pleasant, nutty aroma with a nice flavor balance. Good example.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at One Pint Pub, Helsinki, 20110815) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had molasses, chocolate and mildly roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were molasses, mildly roasted malts, caramell, chocolate, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had roasted malts and bitterness. Very tasty and not too sweet dark lager.

Koelschtrinker (7034) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
10/11/11/12/12/11

Bottle, bought @ HJ Hansen, Odense.
Clear chestnut with a staying, frothy, off-white head. Mild aroma with liqourice, mild caramel, slight grassy and citric notes. Medium carbonation, fine creamy and dryish mouthfeel. Flalvour has good milky chocolate, some roasted notes, light grassy and quite malty roasted bitter with a mild coffee note. A very nice dunkel.

Christian (8548) - Odense, DENMARK - DEC 21, 2010
Clear deep copper colour with a firm and lasting off-white head. Aroma of cereal, dark toffee and brown sugar, some herbal hops and a faint hint of DMS. The flavour is sweet malty with balancing hops. I sense a faint hint of cardboard, probably a combination of the hops and DMS - like I do with so many German beers.

Bottle.Brown and poured with a small head.Low carbonation with a pleasant nuttiness. Some fruitiness makes for quite a complex beer.A good example of this style.
