Bottle. Brown-amber pour with small head. Overly sweet and caramel. Overcarbed. A shame to lagerbier.

Bottle from the brewery in our hotel room. Dark gold pour with foamy white head. Aroma of caramel, butter, piney hops, grass, veggies. Taste is sweet, really caramel, a bit worty, buttery. Bleh.

Bottle purchased at the brewery and consumed fresh in Nov. 2011: Golden with amber hues. Fat collar of white foam surrounds a fragmented center. Attractive aroma of lemon, honeyed toast, flowers, orange candy and mild sulfur. Soft carbonation deposits some foamy residue on the tongue. Rich and orangish up front, with vague cookie notes swirled with honey-bathed dough. Sturdy biscuity malt reveals some exemplary definition and refinement as it soundly anchors the core and persists with notable duration. Closes flowery and softly with hops coupled with an earthier bitterness, honeyed bread and a kiss of soured fruit. Pretty straightforward rendition, but clean and quaffable with appealing malt character (fluffy and beefy) and nicely balanced.

50cl bottles from Rewe out of Bamberg (Stegaurach). - interestingly unbalanced and drinkable, one of my favourite outputs from family breweries. Not even retro passé label and Bügelflaschenverschluss make this bottle look tackily amateur. Dusty malts with honey notes, smothered herbal hops, creamy, almost buttery medium moothfeel with a very dry aftertaste: much more than is needed to produce a decent lager, with quite a few disharmonies.

Ziemlich gutes Bier! Test vom 1.11.2010, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,12,10,10,11 - 11,05

Bottle (50 cl) from bierzwerg.de. Sahdy golden with medium white head. O bit dusty and old malt aroma with some faint herbal hops, and some stale vegetables. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi dry, low to medium bitterness. Another bottle from this which doesn’t seem to hold up very well when approaching it’s BBD (March 2012). A shame, because I get the feeling that there is a good beer lurking behind here.
