Here’s something of a novelty- German beer bought in a Belgian supermarket. 330ml can that doesn’t hiss on opening- ominous. Mixed bag aroma at once astonishingly grassy, thistle-like and honeyed from the can....and hinting at congealed chip fat and wet tissue paper. Pours pale and brilliant with a slim, fine foam. Soft-to-flat condition as suggested by the pull, but detracting nothing from what is in fact a really crisp, solid sweet plis. Fresh grass, thistle and honey-dipped bread stick notes. Sweet and chewy, without off notes. Was expecting to have to tip this but its ended up upstaging Struise. Not had many, but probably the best pilsener I’ve ever had. Tinned. From a Belgian supermarket.

Light yellow and clear. Has a white head, huge, medium duration. Sweet, malty aroma. Flavor is sweet, flour, light bread, a bit unpleasent. Creamy texture and lively carbonation.

Another victim of the German purity law. A poor pilsener with few redeeming qualities.
