There is a Chicago bar (Gentry on State) that I go to on Friday nights for social reasons -- certainly not for the beer selection (they have nothing on tap). Nonetheless, I look forward all day to my two bottles of Beck’s Dark, and although it’s hardly the world’s greatest beer, those two bottles do not disappoint. Positive associations, as muzzlehatch has pointed out, count for a lot.

Not a bad little beer to while away an early autumn night. Smooth and not to filling. Regular Becks with a dash of malt character.

Tasted like the regular Beck’s to me with a little bit more thickness. Not so great.

At least it’s better than the regular Beck’s.

The sorriest attempt at repackaging I’ve ever seen. Comparable to Michelob.

I like it nice rich taste.

OK Flavor, slight aftertaste that increases as you drink. Drank 4 of these at a party once. It made me want to shave my tongue afterward.

A good dark lager, with a nice malt body. A good change of pace, but nothing too spectacular.
