I have had so many reviews messed up due to green glass skunk. Anyway, once again I will look around that and try to taste the true flavor of this brew. Through the distraction I I detect some light malt, but really not a whole lot more. Drain pour, I just can’t do it. Oh well. I’ll at least try to be fair. aetheon (66), Beer Dungeon, Minnesota, USA

Flavors of med-dark roasted malts and very little hops. notes of grain - mouth-feel is ok, finish is a bit dry. Overall this is barely ok, and I would not buy it again. Rich and smooth with a lvery nice deep ebony color .
You can sense the barley malt. A bottom-fermented lager that retains the properties of a lager beer. Better looking than tasting though.

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 16, 2009 This Dunkle poured a black colour with a nice big, foamy, light tan coloured head. Scents include raisens and dough. First sip is very watery with flavours of raisens and malt. Finish is slightly sweet with a small bitter finish. This beer looks alot better than it tastes, but what do you expect from corporate muck? CanIHave4Beers (930), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Updated: Nov 18, 2009I’ll never forget my freshman year of high school... well actually where I’m from 9th grade is still a part of "Junior High" If you ask me the Junior High system works pretty gosh darned well, but these musings aren’t really about education... but they’re not about beer either...... yet. If there is one artist that defined everything I enjoyed about life and music back when I was a freshman it would have been Beck. I listened to Mellow Gold till I had that bastard memorized backward and forwards, then I hopped on Odelay and I’ll be damned if I didn’t listen to that album again tonite. I can honestly say that I’ve really liked if not loved ever Beck album that has been released, or at least every one that I’ve given a fair listen to. Beck’s beer on the other hand seems to have the some sort of consistency as the musician Beck’s music... the trouble here is that instead of hit after hit, it’s miss after miss. This is one of the classic examples of a worn out German mega-brewery. I will admit to quite enjoying this beer a few times in my life but looking at it analytically it sort of sucks. The beer pours a deep ruby color with a small head. The aroma is light roasty malt, kind of sweet; with a bit of stinkiness that I really never paid attention enough to notice in the past, but of course rating beer can lead to killing beers you thought you could lean on. The flavor has some light coffee, some light caramel, some light alcohol that all blends together just right to present something drinkable and enjoyable enough without being anything exciting. But really, It takes a backwash man to sing a backwash song like a frying pan when the fire’s gone
Driving my pig while the band’s taking pictures in the grass
with my radio smash
And I like pianos in the evening sun
Dragging my heals ’til my day is done
Saturday night in the Captain’s clothes
Ten horns blowing when my jewelry froze.
