LuckeyHaskins99 (180), Toledo, Ohio, USA Mar 18, 2002 Really great looking amber color, large fast dissapating head. Smooth and sweet unlike original Beck’s, tho this does have a bit of a ’tinny’ aftertaste, still a great beer overall. As a furthur note, I remeber this stuff from years past as beiing a good beer, but i just re-discovered it (The 2001 Oktoberfest i would gather) for $2.99 a 6-pack! For that price, I may go back and buy the remaining six cases on Friday. Check your local distributors and see if there is any left in your area. To jump to conclusions, last October was not a hight time for people in my country, and I am sure that there are more cases of this left at other places in the states at a great price. If not, get a 6-pack next year, and sing drinking songs with your buddies.
Chipper (66), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 7, 2008 Amber color with a moderate white head. Sweet and malty aroma, but not very strong. Flavor is what one might expect, which is a bit watery, a little sweet, but not real bad. unclemike (366), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 4, 2008 Poured a light colored brown color with a little tint of ruby. Head was strong and thick at first but breaks down quick. Has some sign of malt in the aroma with a caramel scent as well. Flavor is somewhat watered down but has a decent amount of malt and caramel taste and perhaps a little pumpkin seed in here too Underhook (141), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA Oct 2, 2008 I will never understand why brewers bottle in green. That being said, I was lucky enough to get a closed case of this so the skunkitude wasn’t too too bad. The aroma is hampered by skunk, instantly noticible, and it destroys what would have been a fabulous brown sugary maltiness. The beer looks fabulous, dark copper with a mushy white head that leaves a decent lacing. The taste... jesus, skunk ruined this beer. There is some decent caramel sweetness and some bready malt, but it’s completely overshadowed by nasty skunkiness and what I think is some weak corn flavor. Palate is actually very good, fuzzy carbonation with a bit of a bitter aftertaste and a grainy, sticky texture. Overall though, this was a waste of time, I’m frustrated that I didn’t pick up the Hofbrau instead. The worst thing about this beer is that the potential shines through the cloud of skunk, but unfortunately the potential is just that and this beer fails to impress me. tedovertu (125), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Sep 30, 2008 Weakest Oktoberfest to date. Thin and watery. Clear medium amber color. True to the style, very little head and sweet initial flavor and slightly bitter finish. Many other choices that are much better than this. Indulgence (118), Ajo, Arizona, USA Sep 30, 2008 A little thin and watery beer, albeit a decently flavored beer, but some better alternatives from other brewers.
