UPDATED: OCT 20, 2005 Ok, I know. Itís a little watery, but guess what? If you are on a low alchohol diet, as I am, and hate the artificial sweetners in most near beers, then this is the beer for you. One little perk is that you can actually find this stuff in bars. Itís got a little more than half the alcohol of a regular domestic light beer, which means you can pound these little babies like you were in college and still drive home from the bar. Yes! If your wife always yelled at you when you drank 12 beers and drove. Well, welcome to freedom my friend! You drink 12 of these little babies and you have only had a little over a 6 pack! You can even show her a good time when you get home! The states have always had terrible low alchohol brews and this little puppy is about the best one I have had. Here is to no hangover, but plenty of BUZZ!! Thank you Becks for the alternative low alcohol brew. thank you, thank you, thank you. Oh and if you drink regular beer and like trashing low alcohol brews, take a hike and come back after your liver has failed and you have to drink this stuff!!

This is the best readily available light beer in the U.S. It has the same aroma and aftertaste as the classic lager, just without the level of enticing bitterness whilst palating the beer.

One of the first tips in reviewing a beer is "Keep the style in mind." This new product is not regular Beckís. But thatís OK. Itís actually a very drinkable, smooth and tasteful competitor to the "Aspen Edges" and "Michelob Ultras" of the world. On that comparison, it succeeds very well because, frankly, it has at least some quality taste about it. Itís weaker than the Regular brew from Beckís, yes; but for a low-carb and low-cal brew, why not drink a Beckís? It wonít become my "regular" beer, but I think I will become a regular "Beckís Premier" drinker. [Thanks, JB, for the sample bottle. I went out and bought some more!]

I know light beer is what it is, but if I had to pick one, it would be this or Sam Adams. Had this for the first time and was impressed that it maintained real beer flavors, as small as they are, they are there. And it still smelled like a Becks.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 9/20
12/9/08 from the bottle. Aroma is extremely sour pils with a light corny sweetness and almost no hop flora. Appearance is clear yellow with a medium white head. Flavor is watery and a little less sour, with almost no sweetness and a metallic/carbonic bittering finish. Mouthfeel is quite thin, low bodied, with a medium/high carb texture. Overall, there’s just too little character here, but I can’t describe it as offensive, just overly simple.

6 pack. Fizzing gold, short-lived sudsy top. But letís face it, youíre not meant to put this beer in a glass. Curry house lager, dish water, toasted cereal and honey aroma. Better flavour with some of the rabbit hutch, hay, breadstick and honey character of itís bigger brother. Slight bitterness, cereal finish. Palatable low alcohol with intact hop and malt flavours- chilled and from the bottle after a long nightís work/tedium/wood-chopping, even better than palatable. 64 Kcal is astonishing- can see me sinking a few more 6 packs of this in order to rediscover mine. Decent lager, ludicrously underrated.
