2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2013 First off, loses points for being brewed in St. Louis. Becks, from St. Louis...that’s just wrong. Moving on...12oz bottle. FIltered yellow-tan color, thin, oily head. Macro sweet aroma, too sugary and sweet for what you’d want out of even a brewer like Becks, while it does have some bitterness, I’d say the regular Becks has a more pronounced hop character, more depth, more refined. This is just a cheap IMBEV crap in disguise. Drinkable, inoffensive at times, but just a gimmick at heart.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Light barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with giant white head. Light malt and mild herbal bitterness. Not much body. A beer for those who can’t handle the intense flavor of regular Becks.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A very light beer, pretty much tasteless. It is made from good water; I just don’t know what went wrong. There is no aroma, no taste, and the appearance is that of foamy water

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hey lager haters and large brewery slammers -- get a grip. This is an interesting beer. I love the black bottle. And the aroma is downright enticing. After drinking several home brew-y, rough around the edge offerings at small breweries, there’s something to be said for a flawless technologically enhanced beer like this. A crisp, snappy beer with a rich malt core and just enough of a snap to finish it off. I HATE that AB InBev is intermingling historic brand names amongst their mega breweries like this, but it is a business after all. (#4911, 1/15/2013)

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beck’s Sapphire (poured into a whiskey glass) has a thin, off-white head, a clear, somewhat bubbly, golden appearance, and minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is faint, but sweet barley malt is detected. The flavor is of sweet, brown bread, barley malt, and an unusual hop bitterness, which is difficult to describe. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Beck’s Sapphire finishes dry, clean, crisp, and refreshing. Overall, this is another winner from InBev, and I think it is delicious. RJT

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Total Wine - Folsom, CA. Pours coppery gold with a transient white head. With enough inhalation it’s possible to get a hint of tangerine. Med body. Flavor is bready. Not a lot of saphir, but enough to sense tangerine. Finishes mildly bitter.

I think it is Bud Platinum repackaged. I got my sample for free. It’s not something I would buy.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear, light gold pour with a white head. The aroma is faint with straw and mild earthy hops. The light body is crisp and lively. It has a sweet taste that finishes relatively clean.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Light yellow gold with a thin whitish head. Skunky, lightly malty, watery. Lacking in crispness. Really nothing special.
