COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our original Beck’s is a classic German lager beer with a distinctive full-bodied taste, fresh "hoppy" bouquet, golden color and full rich head. Adding to its complexity is a slightly fruity but firm crispness and a dry, clean finish.

tastes as though they’re catering to the general public with a fairly bland flavor...but not TOO bad

Not the best that Germans can do. Although a pretty decent beer

Attractive pint. Skunky megaeuropils aroma (heineken, warsteiner, grolsch.) This said, decent hop aroma. Not particularly unpleasant, yet not particularly good either.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2005 Pale-yellow, almost straw-like color, with good carbonation and a nice (although short-lived) foam. Good whiff of floral hops that is instantly appealing. It’s a little perfumey, a little herbal (grassy) with a subtle underlying maltiness. The palate is light with a sharp spritzy carbonation. There’s some hoppy bitterness and dryness running across the palate but overall it’s predominantly sweet and lemoy. Used to be a fine beer in my younger mind. One of those beers that I’m not sure if it changed or if I changed. Have to call it a stepping stone beer now rather than a good pilsener.

Certainly better than Heineken but nothing special

Fine by me, but avoid the canned version.

Quite ordinary German brew. Has snob appeal for those who don’t know any better. Rather light body with some hops flavor. Not bad if there’s nothing better available but I consider Beck’s to be over-rated. It amazes me the number of bars and restaurants that brag that they carry Beck’s. Big deal. The beer barely exceeds most American offerings.

*Yawn*. Garden-variety German Beer. You could swap the labels on this and St. Pauli or Bischoff’s and I’d never know unless I compared them side-to-side.

Nice hoppy lager with good body. Not complex, but quite drinkable. In Germany, a very blue collar brand mass market brand. Doesn’t pretend to be what it is not. For forty years this has been ’ol’ reliable.’
